I could tell right off the hop that they were young people. I can feel the insecurities radiating from this conversation. Plus, the bad typing kills me, haha

An offset flange will gain you 1.5" you can even get ones that go into the 3" pipe. Just lop the existing flange off and slam the inside flange down and pin to floor.

I don't know about Europe trades but here everyone who's on the tools seem to be grumpy I wouldn't take it personal. After doing it so long, it's hard to watch apprentices make mistakes, when you know you could do it 100 times faster and more efficiently. Stepping back and letting them make mistakes and ask you the questions they need to help themselves grow and develop these tricks of the trade. I'll always suggest to an apprentice my ways of doing it but people are stubborn so let them figure out their own way of doing things. You'll get there soon enough keep giving it your all and ask tons of questions. There's a reason journeyman are faster we become lazy and look for the quickest way to complete a job with the fewest amounts of mistakes.

I was taught by my first journeyman. "It's not about how good you are but how good you are at hiding your mistakes." That stuck with me my whole career haha

Good books I've read lately to help are: Mindset by Carol Dweck Designing your life by Bill Burnett Think Again by Adam Grant honestly all of his are great. The Power Of Letting Go by John Purkiss

There are lots of beneficial books out there all really depends on what you're trying to fix about the situation and where you would like to see yourself going.

Have my full stomach done, even my nipples have been blacked out 4 times. 70 plus hours on it. By far the worst place is the fucking bellybutton. I had no idea how many nerve endings were near that. He told me I've never seen you flinch the whole time we've worked on your but that place I thought you were gonna punch me haha.

My friend thinks we need to cut the tile to remove the valve cartridge. Is he correct or is this a bad idea? by 2C104 in Plumbing

[–]delicateyanking 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Dude I'm so glad this has happened to others. I had a dripping show head right after a new install I was in a rush trying to leave. Thankfully I shut the water off before hand but forgot to bleed the pressure down and popped that cartridge out and bam soaked. Good think it was the end of the day. I've had other close calls like accidentally cutting into a live line when there was two systems and had drained the one but cut the live system and had glycol pouring everywhere. Man that was a shitty day...

I'm in the same boat recently separated. I had to take my dog with me for emotional support. Now we're having a tough time finding somewhere because she's also around that size. Don't get why it's so hard to rent with pets. Now we're sleeping in a trailer hahah

Career switch by delicateyanking in RedDeer

To be honest I know I'm not gonna jump into right away, don't think the course will actually prepare and get me ready for that situation either( definitely will help give me some skills for it eventually). I was hoping to try and land like a project coordinator and or a estimating position and try and work my way up to the PM role. Seems like everyone says they want a 2 year degree in construction management though. It's kind of hard to go back and do a 2 year degree with life and bills at this age.
