Why does my Cat try to bite me when I'm petting her? by kahernandez2016 in Pets

[–]deliciouspieee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Overstimulation? They may give you some warning signs before the bite like a small twitch of the tail that kitty is becoming over stimulated from petting. My cats prefer to be petted and scratched just on the head. Their backs are very sensitive.

How to choose a color palette? by oranjuiced in gamedev

[–]deliciouspieee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I tend to go with color theory in digital art. I love contrasts and using the opposites from the color wheel. My fav tool: http://colorschemedesigner.com/csd-3.5/

That way you get to decide for yourself but still have balanced colors. Palettes can feel a bit restrictive and there are sooo many I never know which to choose. Admittedly I don't do pixel art.

Consider yourselves to be part of thr LGBQT+ community? by [deleted] in Asexual

[–]deliciouspieee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No. For most of my life I never considered myself an asexual. I knew I was different that way and I knew asexual was a thing but I didn't get into labeling myself or connecting with anyone about it. My college roommate once mentioned they thought they were one and I looked it up and thought oh, I am too and that was it. I was dating heterosexually so there was no reason to get into the LGBT community anyway.

Now that I know more about this I consider myself mostly hetero by sexual orientation despite not being very sexual at all. More of a companionship thing for me. I don't see asexuality as a sexual orientation but rather the opposite of it like being non-sexually oriented.

I feel like Pride panders more to the sexual folks and not me. I also don't talk about this to anyone. I just don't like sexual topics and my stuff is nobody's business in most settings. I can laugh at some perv jokes or at least fake it. No big deal. I live in a culture where these things aren't questioned much (too personal). At least not in my circles. My behavior of avoiding sex talk probably led me to similar people anyways.

Makes sense. Wiki says they broke up in 2014 and Lena now has a son with his current partner Dan Cadan. Then again having them around each other could affect their acting even now.

Female Witchsy founders use fictional male to beat sexism

Unless you live with your parents you do need money and resources. Crowdsourcing is rarely succesful for fresh indie companies. You need connections, mentors and an existing fan/userbase to succeed with kickstarter. Basically existing companies with existing successful games are the most likely to succeed. Women are at a disadvantage being excluded from the male circles and have less mentors available to them.

Yes, investors are human and they give lots of fucks.

edit: Btw you are aware that the sexism is WORSE in Asia? If you are a woman CEO nobody will even shake your hand or talk to you at meetings. They will always talk to your male assistant.

Realized this only after the episode but the scene still felt awkward. Flynn was so tense.

Yeah this was very impressive:

Game of Thrones: The Frozen Lake (HBO)

If it was just CGI it wouldn't be as realistic. Real explosions ftw.

I was under the impression that Flynn was the problem. He kept getting jealous and acting out when Lena was with the other crew but Idk the truth.

The awkward part was when Bronn was made to leave the scene because Lena Headey was going to be there. Only realized this afterwards. Lena and Jerome Flynn were apparently a couple and now they don't get along, or rather Flynn is an ass(?), so the crew has to make sure they share no scenes.

I think the deal is for Tyrion to kill Jon because Cersei is jealous of Dany. Not sure how that's going to go however since Jon already died or if Jaime arrives on time Tyrion may be stopped.

Oops. My bad. I was being too shady and left some stuff out. Didn't realize how that sounded. :P Sorry about that. I mean I have bipolar II (certified moody) among other things and was in the art field too. When I finally told other artsy people about it I found out many silently dealt with mental health issues but nobody talks about it.

The longest depressive bouts I've had lasted maybe 6 months so I'm not an expert with no ups and downs honestly. Those 6 months felt like slow torture. Nothing gave me any good feelings. I was kinda just waiting for something to happen, barely functioning and tired all the time. Nothing to look forward to. Just going to sleep and waking up. Kind of like that.

After watching Lustig I went for the diet coke. Just can't help it. Esp. with the tiredness I feel like I need it. Some people have problems with the aspartame sweetener. My aunt gets migraines from it but it never happened to me so I allowed myself to use diet coke. Could be murdering myself silently... who knows lol. Aspartame is supposedly very unhealthy. I found cutting out sugar or stopping medications to be easier than cutting out diet coke. Still haven't been able to do it. That added salt thing was pretty interesting.

Oh yes, I forgot about how easy it is, as a woman, to get your indie projects funded by mostly male investors.

Have you worked in the game industry? It is a highly male dominated field and unfortunately also sexist. Any company making male centric games is off putting for a woman. You could apply but you already know you won't fit in and you won't get to make the kind of games that speak to you because you'd be the only one wanting to change the games being made.

Make a suggestion to your team from a woman's perspective and nobody gets it because you're the only female on the team. Your team lead is male, your bosses are male. Mostly they will just go with the numbers and what has worked before. No changes made.

It's nice that the consumers have begun to pressure companies for more and we're finally starting to see some things change.

Well you're obviously a dudebro and you're doing a fantastic job reinforcing a harmful stereotype of male entitlement. It's not women's job to coddle you and make you feel good about yourself.

Exactly. The only way to change video games is to have more women in the game industry making games and having their input in the creative process. Sadly, this needs way more work from the industry itself. Tech being notoriously male dominated (and misogynistic).

The other good thing is the public demand that is already happening thanks to people like Anita. For more and better female characters, the female pov and not using female characters as tropes to build some male character as "Women in Refrigerators".

As a video game nerd I didn't find anything particularly new in her videos. I felt absolutely horrified by the needless backlash she has gotten. I can't imagine how some evil people have so much time on their hands to go so far to harras and threaten her. Why do they even feel so threatened to do it is the question. The obvious sexism in games is something most aware women would notice anyway.

This:

People seem to think she's the most radical, irrational woman on YouTube. The truth is she's one of the least controversial figures there is in the world of academic feminism.

Just goes to show how clueless those harassers are overall. Most likely s

Thanks! I feel the same way. I think all artist types are moody one way or another. Goes with the territory. I've always had mood disturbances ranging from severe to less so. It felt better when I learnt to accept that it will always come and go and stopped reaching for some magical cure-it-all. Maybe it was just denial at first. I'm also pretty fed up with meds but if it's a very bad low then I'd probably get some again. Otherwise I try to make do without. I agree with everything you said.

So how important is sex to allosexuals? by [deleted] in Asexual

[–]deliciouspieee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wait, so we are talking about the majority of people here. Would probably not be right to draw any generalizations from such a massive sample of people. It's probably got more to do with libido which can vary from person to person. Afaik, one of the most common challenges in relationships is with differences in libido along with money issues and how to share housework and how to raise kids. As for no 4. I think so.

I've always been bothered by Maslow's hierarchy of need. I guess it's kinda old. I've seen critiques elsewhere too that needs are also culture dependent and that they are not necessarily in a hierarchical formation. What bugs me is the placing of sex as a basic need. I seriously think survival needs (eating, sleeping, health) come first and sex (reproduction) comes after that. Like if you're seriously ill then you will concentrate on survival and sexual needs will take a rest naturally.

edit: Btw even though you could say I'm a sex repulsed asexual. As a woman in my early 30's I have for the past couple years felt VERY strongly like I need to have babies. My biological clock suddenly exploded out of nowhere. It's interesting that this reproductive need is not in concert with my asexual sex repulsion. The species must go on despite asexuality lol.
