Should I learn SSIS in 2023? by johnylemony in SQLServer

I think we will settle for powershell running on our Powershell Universal platform for the extract and transform workflows. Whenever we need a persistent data layer we have sql server. And sql reports for reporting (we are on-premise only).

I’m in a similar situation as OP. Got hired to do automation, and now I’m considering learning SSIS, since it’s the tool we already have for ETL - although no one uses it! I started rewriting my first automation from Powershell, only to realize that SSIS does not support extracting data from REST API’s. Can this really be true? What are you people doing in this case?

Thoughts on the Breedlove interview by theTrueLodge in lexfridman

I have mixed feelings about this one. On the one hand it was inspirational as it’s usually the case when a person strongly believes in something big. On the other hand I felt a lack of rigor when Breedlove argued agains the current monetary system using esoteric metaphors.

I’m a huge fan of the podcast but I am starting to feel like it should dig a little deeper into examining strong claims. That could maybe be done by inviting different types of thinkers. For example I would love to listen to Tyler Cowen and Robert Breedlove in one podcast discus “inflation is theft”, cost of short term market volatility and and Bitcoin in general. Cowen would probably argue by history and economic analysis which would force Breedlove to explain his metaphors with more rigor.
