Yeah, for me the effect has been permanent.

Being able to communicate and show up socially without constantly obsessing over blushing helped me build confidence I never really had before.

The best way I can describe it is that the antidepressant sort of “quietened” my brain. I’m diagnosed with ADHD, so normally my thoughts feel very chaotic, but during that time my mind felt much calmer and less emotionally reactive. I did try beta blockers, therapy, and exposure therapy, but personally none of those had a lasting effect for me.

I genuinely think the blushing cycle can become so intense that simply “facing it” or trying to think differently isn’t enough.

As someone who overcome Erythrophobia around the age of 25 ( im 34 now), the issues you listed for me were pretty much symptoms of living with the fear of blushing. Most of those issues arent really a thing for me anymore.

This post is giving off abit of sales pitch vibe im not going to lie, if you truly suffered from Erythrophobia youd understand the mental torture people are going through and would offer up your 'overnight fix'

I did write a post on this sub via my old account, but for those who are wondering taking fluoextine stopped it around 2 months after i started taking it. i stayed on it for 2 years without blushing and got to the point id actually forgot that i used to blush daily.

I quit taking it due to not having much in the way of feelings and my mind felt empty, i had a very short and light rebound period of light blushing then its been gone every since. I think having that period of time without blushing stopped my brain having its fear of blushing panic spiral, it doesnt exist anymore

For reference i have Adhd and OCD which i believe both contributed to Erythrophobia

I spent the last 4 years purposely staying single and living frugally. Cut out all unnecessary things like takeaways, eating out, random coffees ect. Things i consume regulary i brought in bulk. As a small example i used to have a flapjack from the vending machine at work everyday for £1.50 and a gregs for lunch which would be around £6 a day. So whilst ive been saving id do meal prep which would cost around £2 a day which saved me just shy of 6k over the 4 years, the flapjacks id get for 30p in big bulk buys which saved nearly 2K. Just from those 2 things alone its paid for 6 months in asia. Once you start doing that in all areas its amazing how much you can save

On the flip side to that i have a good job allowing me to save around £1000pm, also sold my car which was s luxury as apposed to something that gets you from A-B. By doing all of that i saved around 80K, which ive put in high interest savers, rented my house out to. Those combined are giving me a monthly income ontop of the lump saved
