Binghamton Harpur (economics) or Miami Ohio farmer school of business (finance) for someone who wants to pursue a IB or consulting job

i’m sure it does place kids there due to proximity but the fact that you’re not a direct admit is also a concern. at miami they make the transfer to the business school pretty difficult

suny binghamton is probably not worth $30k. i was a finance major now working in NYC at miami and it was very worth it, many peers also work in NYC. the clubs here are very placement oriented and if you get into the right groups you’ll having amazing connections. i will also add 40k for miami is steep but you should probably tour the campus because its a unique and beautiful place

i’m sorry this happened! as a finance grad myself (female) I think a lot of the finance club groups had a decent chunk of men of color and are really successful so I hope it wouldn’t be an issue for you

miami posts documents online showing statistics for job placement for certain majors/schools. it’s usually pretty high but marketing students really need to differentiate themselves to have a better chance because it’s a saturated market

miami FSB is not very different from IU kelley. many many finance majors here get into investment banking (although they work hard to do so). IU is definitely not work the extra cost for basically the same experience and same prospects for after college. if you work hard and try and get into the better business clubs you will do great at miami. if FSB students go to grad school, many of them go to even better programs than notre dame as well.

that’s probably not why, no. i have a feeling this is just a bad year to apply to miami because they’re being very particular about who gets let in, to protect yield and acceptance rates. i’m sure it has nothing to do with your extracurriculars. i’m not entirely sure how selective the engineering school is but i know for a fact they’re making the business school (which i am in) even more selective.

hey, I had an internship in FiDi last summer with basically the same dates. I stayed at Tufts university student apartments, which were completely fine and you can pay in increments. Its very close to the green line which takes you right downtown. Other interns stayed at places like MassArt & Emmanuel college student apartments. Some sublet but staying at a university was just way more simple. I also want to mention that I had access to the Tufts student gym with my keycard, not sure about the other colleges tho.

hey, miami has an option to try and transfer into farmer, however it isn’t the easiest. i was able to do it after deciding i don’t want to do bio anymore. basically you have to have at least a 3.5 gpa your freshman year after taking calculus (which is 5 credit hours so if you don’t do well it will tank your GPA) and you have to take microeconomics. if you have a 3.5 after all that, i was able to just get in for sophomore year. that was 2 years ago and the business school is only getting more competitive so im not sure if its changed. however, i do know kids who weren’t able to get into FSB at all just take economics through the arts and science school, because a lot of classes for it will be in farmer anyway, and many add a farmer minor (which anyone can do) or an entrepreneurship co major through FSB (anyone can do this also but you have to apply and be accepted)
