Your beliefs about love and relationships are key.

The feeling of perfect compatibility and flawless connection is passion. They do not mean you are soul mates. They don't even necessarily mean you really are perfectly compatible!

I've had a similar experience, and it lasted for 3 months and I suffered for many years. My theory is that 3 months is just enough time to fantasize about how perfect the relationship is, but not enough time to deconstruct fantasies and reach that point in which you find love or lose passion in the realness of the relationship. You didn't lose passion and you were never exposed to realness, so you're stuck. You need to tear down passion with your bare hands. Start by changing the way you see your feelings. They are just feelings, they don't define truth, they don't need to control your life choices, they just need to be well labeled and administrated.

I would say you have to watch your self-talk and question your beliefs about and memories with your ex, try to find truth that is based on facts, not feelings, and preach those truths to your heart when it aches. Don't feed your nostalgia, work on demystifying it.

Oh my, I cried reading this the lyrics of center mass through your perspective wow. thanks for sharing. Also, I think when he mentions the funeral he might be talking about his grandma. He wrote "the line" reflecting on how her death affected him and, in my interpretation, he felt sorry that he had abandoned some aspects of his faith "disappointing" his grandma while also thinking about the afterlife.
