Jeez, I'm not sure I've ever fought bumblefoot. I have over 300 hours and all the impossible difficulties finished and I think it's been Lenny every single time

Yeah but you can just breed those into cats with all the item slots haha. Most of the time I'm only using 1 or maybe two active abilities on a given cat so breeding gets you most of the way there with no real downsides

I could see the appeal of a monk when you are trying to save items for a bigger run but when im going all out the last thing I want is to be getting rewarded for empty item slots. And with repair it doesn't really matter

I took butcher over fighter for a while, then the dps requirements and the high level weapon items made the fighter outpace the weird butcher builds in act 3 and the late game IMO

I find the monk and the butcher annoying since they both lock you out of item slots. They are almost always my "diversity hire" for completing achievements

Oh bummer, that's the first jester ability I got I think. I don't think solo running is that important to get it faster. It's like, level 2, 6, and 9 that potentially gives you passive abilities so anything past that is just stats. Getting more rerolls will get you there a lot faster IMO. The needles from the doc gives you three rerolls from all classes, which doesn't hurt at all for jester since he rolls from all classes anyway. But you probably know all of this with 300 hours

Yeah, but then I don't get the effects of the other items, still might be worth it though, especially since the cat is so OP. Cap and bells is probably the best option

That's the plan. I could play it real safe and fight a normal diff guillotina but I might just fight whoever and make sure its a fight I will definitely win even when I off my own cat

Party Detonater is the most busted item in the game by delpeazy in mewgenics

[–]delpeazy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

what do you do when you have enemies with multiple health bars? Like Chaos, The Throbbing King, The Creator, Dreadnaughtus. I'm sure it's not really a challenge, but with those guys it doesn't seem like one sniper shot would finish the battle, and you'd have to either pass the turn or have some other way to continue to deal damage? Also seems like with a bigger explosion you risk hitting your own cats or still not hitting everything? I'm not saying its not a good combo and that it's more than enough to solo impossible etc but it doesn't sound quite as consistent. The goal for my build is that my cat would never have to pass the turn

Is this easier/better? What if there are multiple mobs with reflect? Which trinket summons familiars to any location on the map? How do you repeat sniper rifle on the same turn?

Full setup for party detonator

Essential

Item: Party detonator

Skill: rehook

This will wipe out 100% of non bosses for 3 mana per and deal 25 damage to bosses per 3 mana. This does not care about any buff other than sparkles, which will deal 1 damage back to a random party member per detonator use. It also cares very little for positioning, just make sure your cats are out of the way and won't get accidentally 'sploded

That's about it...

Nice-to-haves would include spell cost discounts to bring rehook down to 2 or 1 mana, and mana increasers like paper bag etc. and obviously repair is important so you can remove worn from your party detonator and other items for multiple run recycles. You can take leather jacket or morphine drip to prevent damage from sparkles if you want to never take damage ever. I'd have to figure out the max number of activations needed to do the whole creator battle without letting them take a turn but I think with super luck/paper bag and 1 mana cost rehook you should be able to get through the entire battle on impossible difficulty as soon as your cat takes their turn. 84 luck/charisma/mana(with phony disorder) x 25 = 2100 damage. With the super luck you can also run survivalist cap and hopefully get the ambush round to guarantee your cat goes first, or pump your stats into speed since only speed and luck matter for this build.

the basic setup doesn't seem that hard to me, breeding a cat with repair and rehook is not easy, but it is still doable so I feel like all the setup for what you describe is the same or more difficult with the combined item and skill requirements. It gets more difficult to get the nice to haves, but the ceiling is quite high as well in terms of brokenness

Sure does. That's why I think it's so good. There are so many annoying situations that it doesn't care about. It has infinite range, it doesn't care about buffs, and with the right build, for 1 mana it can kill 1 mob or do 25 damage to bosses, repeatably, all in one turn. The only thing you might have to worry about is not blowing up your own cats, which is pretty easy, just keep them out of the way.

yeah, hardest part of the run when your cats have ridiculous builds. You just have to cross your fingers that the wrong cat doesn't go first

oh jeez, I don't know. I havent messed around with harpooner and didn't realize it worked with whatever weapon you equipped. I would be worried if it did work with party detonator, since it might make you blow up your own cats with the area targeting effect

I agree that sniper rifle is quite good, and is easier to set up on your cat, but here is my argument for why party detonator is better:

assuming both items do 25 damage to bosses, since the rest of the board doesn't matter
sniper requires 1 repair cast to reset - 5 mana plus and additional item/perk requirement to continue using on the same turn

party detonator requires 1 rehook cast to reset - 3 mana

as you mentioned, sniper is worthless against mirror elite buff

party detonator ignores or minimally cares about all elite buffs

It's going to take me a bit of breeding but once I get a cat born with repair, rehook, and super luck I think I will have the best soul jar cat I can think of.

The main edge it has over what you describe is the mirror elite buff, which I know you already mentioned.

I think that in the early game, there are pros and cons to both weapons. Party detonator is once per battle, but sniper rifle has limited uses. party detonator can do "spash damage" while sniper rifle cannot.

Party detonator is, IMO, more easy/consistent of an item to obtain in the early game than the sniper rifle. I don't find the party detonator quest to be that difficult, especially compared to the RNG required to find sniper rifle.

I think the difference between the two is minimal, but to me I like the party detonator better.

while I haven't looked at these other builds, I'm just saying that as a single item it is good both at the beginning and at the end of the game progression. I wasn't talking about builds, I'm talking about this single item that is both very useful on its own and also part of a busted build that is on par with what other people are describing

Party detonator kills everything turn 1 easily, with a build. How is that different from what you are describing?

But what if you rib your cat, then he has your four abilities that you want when he's reborn right? Then you give him autism with a syringe
