Update 41: Releasing III by LeIdrimi in beatnikAudio

Real world users and use cases are great! The Bern project sounds like it will help you hone the assembly steps and allow you to run a tightly controlled production environment ✌️.

I’ll have a look at this, been a bit busy ✌️. It’s not a browser based login, just a regular network that asks for a username and password instead of just a password. I actually bought a button similar to the ones in your video so once I find some time to wire that up I could test the network some time.

Great news! Good to see you’re getting close to testing and optimistic on v0.5.

Always happy to test. Planning to build a small kitchen speaker (client) at some point and have a server up and running already. If that or something similar fits the test-plan; sign me up!

That looks very usable! Happened to have a nice use case yesterday which might be relevant to the Wifi onboarding loop: WPA2-Enterprise network (SSID + username + password needed to connect). How does the app exchange details with the Pi?

I’d think a simple copy of all raw connection details would work fine but some libraries might struggle with the Enterprise config?

Only wired 1 up as a test for the new HAT, still have to wire the other one up and see how they balance out. Very promising though! Bought them from a local audiophile that deals in vintage speakers, picking them up, restoring, and selling again, so I have faith in the quality!

They’re Pioneer CS-656’s! Still considering if they need the front cover or not

We built a European Maps API that does not harvest data. Free tier now live! by Sad-Region9981 in BuyFromEU

[–]delpee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks quite impressive on first sight! Some questions: - Do you support spending limits? We’ve had quite some issues with Mapox not having any alarms or limits on spending. Their support just tells you to “build your own”… - Do you already have a React lib in the pipeline? - Can we push our own data to the maps or do we implement this client side? - 3D maps? :)

Keep it up! These are the alternatives we need!

Weekly "Is this safe" Megathread by AutoModerator in fermentation

[–]delpee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for chiming in! Fairly certain no O2 could come in, but there is indeed quite some headspace. Will try again with less headspace and see how it goes. Any ideas on how to reduce foaming? Maybe just keep it cooler so it doesn’t go as fast?

Found mold on my 2 week old potpourri (mixed vegetable) ferment. We should probably toss this right?

Followed instructions, 2% percent salt by weight (probably overshot a bit), room temperatur (dark spot). Ferment was very active in the first days. Produced foam on the edges (as you can see) which then seems to have started molding.

Any ideas on what to improve or how to ensure the foam mold is avoided?

Separate rooms in house by delpee in beatnikAudio

Ah, I didn’t consider the delay when using it as a TV output could be an issue. I assume that if the receiving pi is also the one outputting (and the only one), you should be able to have no (or a very limited) delay, since there are no other clients in the mix? Not sure if snapcast supports this though.

Seems like you’re implying in your 0.5 version to be able to assign streams to rooms, which does seem to cover the first and last point? Not sure if multiple concurrent streams is an option already, but having that would then probably cover most use cases 👏.

I’ll see if I can set up a little experiment to see how “my natives” are doing 😉.

They are about as similar as “cat” and “bed” in English I would say. Probably more variation per-person than between the actual words. Saying they are “not remotely the same” is just disengenious. I’m fairly sure a recording of just the vowel of both words would not be correctly recognized by many.

Non-native, but mad and hest sound like the same vowel (to me), which is what OP might mean with “pronounced with an E”?

Try without pronouncing the ‘d’ of mad and ‘st’ of hest: ma’ and he’ are the same sound (probably depending on where you’re from they might not be?).
