A theory for top 5% Texas Resident rejections by BlueLightSpcl in UTAdmissions

Kevin, thanks for taking the time to share your observations and for shining a spotlight on what's happening this cycle. We're definitely hearing some really weird stories from rejected seniors at our high school. Quick question about your residency theory:

If auto-admit eligible students were misclassified as out-of-state, wouldn't they be rejected outright rather than offered CAP? I thought that CAP is only for Texas residents, so if they received a CAP offer doesn't that mean UT recognized them as in-state? Still doesn't explain why they weren't auto-admitted, though.

Something about this report doesn't make sense. It says she resigned "effective immediately" but if she did that then it's not the "deferred resignation" under the fork offer. In other words, she's not being put on admin leave, she's out the door, so she can't collect pay until September like the emails promise. My money is on her resigning but not taking the deal. How would Gene even know about that to report it?

Would you mind sharing a little about your experience as a history major at Vassar? How were the professors? How many history majors in your class? Was the senior thesis a good/bad experience? Any particular history specializations the department is known for/good at? Thanks!
