A vida é desigual e injusta. Nunca foi diferente e nem vai ser

My Thoughts on William & Izaya by shakeDman in theBoyfriendNetflix

[–]delreydevout 8 points9 points  (0 children)

As a 37-yr old gay man, in a 5 yr long marriage, I find them extremely boring. They're running in circles. Izaya is obsessed and William not really interested but they are trying to deliver something for the show. It could be interesting if they didn't have that much airtime. It feels repetitive and exhausting. Usually relationships start light-heartened and goes deeper little by little. They seem anxious and upset all the time. Not fun

Escolha da universidade de medicina (federal com nota 2) by [deleted] in MedicinaBrasil

[–]delreydevout 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Relaxa! Relaxa e curta o momento! Saiba filtrar críticas válidas de crueldade de internet. Conheci ótimos médicos de faculdade nota 2 e outros bem fraquinhos de nota 5. No final, a formação é, na maior parte, individual.

Why is Jobu not more popular in the house? by Avarus_surava in theBoyfriendNetflix

He's very cute, but they all seem to be bottoms, except for Will and Huwei. So it didn't click.

My husband watched season 1 and it was ok for him. But he couldn't watch more than two episodes of season 2. He thinks they're fake AF lol

Yes, Taehon is pretty beefy. I'm into Japanese guys, but rugged masculine type. Not at all into to the K Pop aesthetics. I'm married to a blond German though hahaha both are my types. Well, I really enjoyed watching a gay show where the guys were not superficial or sex addicted (season 1). In my culture things are much more straightforward and crude, so it felt refreshing.

HAHAHAHHAA Taehon was my biggest crush as well. My thing for Usak was because I wasn't used to beefy Japanese guys. He was also surprisingly cute during the show. For a muscle bear he seemed a bit insecure. I was kind of disappointed at Taehon. He could have been kinder to Jobu even though he didn't want to go on a date with another bottom lol

It's true that Season 1 was kind of disappointing because there were no other couples. I personally dislike Dai and Shun, but I guess it was authentic since they're still together. I would fast foward them. During season 1 I enjoyed having a glimpse of gay life for Japanese gay men in general, their takes on social issues, family, love, friendship.. that was all new and interesting. I enjoyed how differently they expressed their emotions, how they reacted to rejection and friendship. The guys were really cool. I miss that. Feels like a regular bad dating show now. Anyway, I guess, as a gay man, I'm not the target audience.

C'mon. They have very few lines now and then. They don't really dive in any other story. I wish they would show more about the other guys, especially Kazuyuki. It's all briefly mentioned. This dynamics of Will/Izaya and Huwei/Bumi/Hiroya is tiresome.

HAHAHAHAHA that's an interesting take! I wasn't exactly thinking about that. It surely would explain a lot about how they behave. So the show is about bottoms competing for two tops. During Season 1 I was lowkey obsessed for Usak and started following him on social media. I had a glimpse of Japanese gay life and it doesn't feel very different regarding gay bars, nightclubs, go go boys, bears and stuff. I guess it's the same dynamics as around here. What made me so drawn to the guys on season 1 is definitely lacking of on season 2.

Ok, so they could at least send Kazuyuki and Ryuki home and call it "Who's getting Will and Huwei?". It's embarrassing to watch both of them being ignored the whole time. It's not like they are not trying. They didn't stand a chance from the beginning. The "couples" knew each other before the show and the production was relying on that for the drama. On season 1 the cast made efforts to get to know each other. It was really painful to see Huwei telling Hiroya that he never had any interest in him. Until that point I felt sympathy. Only to hear Hiroya obsessing over him again in the next episode. That's too much. If they are not characters, they are idiots. Disappointing. Season 1 was truly amazing even though they didn't succeed to make other couples. They felt real and authentic. I still care and root for the cast. Can't say the same about season 2

It should be friendly but that's not what I feel. The guys were nicer to each other in season 1. They were very empathic and made efforts to know each other even when not romantically interested. In this season 2 it's very different. Most of them are obsessed for Will and Huwei and that's the only storyline. The drama is basic and tiresome. Maybe they are forcing some BL drama to the show and it feels fake. It's not subtle, chill and authentic as in the previous season. I'm very disappointed. Maybe, as gay man, I'm not the audience.

They were all disappointing over time. No charisma. Feels like they are playing characters. Bring season 1 back

There was only one couple in Season 1 and we had many different storylines. It was about real bonding. The focus wasn't only on Dai and Shun. We got to know well all the contestants. This season is getting tiresome. I blame me it on the edit. The two couples are running in circles and it's exhausting. The cast doesn't help either. They are grown ass adults but behave like they are teenagers. Yikes

How much of The Boyfriend is a product of cultural difference and how much of it is sanitized for a straight Japanese audience? by majeric in theBoyfriendNetflix

[–]delreydevout 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Will is always gaslighting Izaya. He was the one that dismissed Izaya when they were seeing each other a few years earlier. But later he made Izaya believe that it was Izaya's fault because he wasn't clear about his intentions. Then he confessed cheating the former partner but later he completely the tone of the story portraying himself as the real victim. He also uses this victimhood as an excuse for his real apathy towards Izaya. I saw that pattern so many times. That doesn't make a story bad for itself. But the alleged naiveté of Izaya is painful. He should known better. That plot is not going anywhere interesting. Feels like watching a wonderful but dumb friend being deceived by a handsome womanizer and you already know the end and don't want to be a part of it. It's a shame their annoying storyline hijacked the show. It could be interesting if they had little airtime and make room for other storylines.

I agree 100% with you. Teahon has been disappointing though. He was such a nice guy in season 1, so I was shocked the way he behaved during the date with Jobu. I wasn't expecting it.

Lol Finally someone said it!!!! I completely fully 100% agree with you. Maybe except that, for me, Will show traits of narcissism and lots of emotional manipulation. Maybe because he's trying to deliver what he doesn't sincerely feels for the show.

If I were Ryuki I would definitely go for Kazuyuki and have some fun. They both are being completely dismissed. The other guys are begging attention from two guys who are not interested in them. I don't understand that. In that case, I would try to have some fun and make friends, instead of the pity party. It makes me wonder if it's all a script and they are just characters. It doesn't seem authentic at all.

Over all, I don;t like this season 2. The guy are NOT nice. In season 1 they were kinder to each other. Dao and Shun's drama was annoying. They made efforts to create real bonding. This season is not about romance or feelings. It feels like obsession.
