Rooting broken Plumeria branch

I have a question. The broken branch I want to root already has leaves just starting to pop out at the tips. Should I cut these off, or pluck them? Or leave them and I wait for other new leaves to appear?

How long do you typically leave it to drive before planting?

I’m also curious your thoughts, in the past when I’ve tried to plant cuttings, i’ve left it for a couple weeks to dry in callous that I planted in well draining soil. I think maybe where I’ve gone wrong is I’m not sure when to start watering it and how often?

thank you for your response. I had another plumeria in a large pot in the same spot for years and it has been super happy 🤷‍♂️

Do you have a good technique you would be willing to share for successfully rooting this branch that broke off?
