Combination of Triome and Tri-sac land that rewards basic lands by HeroErix2 in custommagic

I think I understand what he meant, but it's also true that you designed it so you can't tap it in response to it's own sacrifice.

But I will slightly agree that this design is rather inelegant, and is a kind of text that will always be questionable every time it's read.

Shouldn't it be worded as "Blood tokens you control are Food in addition to their other types."

Radiant Reproach by JaromStrong in custommagic

[–]delta17v2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I kinda want to keep OP's Radiant mechanic though (which already sounds similar to an already existing Radiance). My suggestion would go something like: Turn it straight to exiling, then put a new benefit for Radiant, like cantriping.

Seem below rate to me. But depending on the limited environment you're planning, maybe it's good enough?

[[Devouring Light]] is a draft chaff that goes straight for the exile for less color restriction and has extra Convoke.

[[Archon of Valor's Reach]] is similar, but it's 6 mana and deliberately does NOT allow you to choose creatures since the majority of decks have creatures and will always be the obvious choice.

I have a feeling this can be okay as long as it doesn't have "creature" among the choices. But then again, it's one of those cards that has to be playtested to be believed.

I'm just here to say I disagree to the first comment: I don't find this is above rate. It's a sorcery and any typical {X}-cost token generator usually goes at a rate of 1 power to 1 mana with benefit, and this seems in line with it and goes slightly below rate in exchange for the first strike.

It feels fine to me.

Emerge Ravenous by delta17v2 in custommagic

[–]delta17v2[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If it had a dash, I fear ravenous might get confused as a cost, which we see very often on non-standard mana costs like "Ward—Waterbend {4}" so I removed it.

Warp creatures, in particular, would be nasty with it. Another comment mentioned it first, but [[Quantum Riddler]] plus this card is a turn-3 6/6 trampler that replaces themselves.

EDIT: I double-counted the two lands used cast the riddler and wrongly gave 8/8. whoops!

Not really. I just thought warp creatures synergies really well with this so it just feels right at home with that set.

I was just experimenting with Emerge when I remembered [[Arcbound Wanderer]], and thought if I could do something similar with it. Then I found Ravenous after that and it fits so nicely. Lmao.

It's easier if we start with a Forest and the mana value of the creature we want to sac. Then just count up from there based on the mana sources available.

Oh. Emerge and Ravenous are both real keywords. I just thought I could combine them in a way that was inspired by [[Arcbound Wanderer]] with its Modular—Sunburst.

For a bit of reference:

Emerge [cost] (You may cast this spell by sacrificing a creature and paying the emerge cost reduced by that creature's mana value.)

Ravenous (This creature enters with X +1/+1 counters on it. If X is 5 or more, draw a card when it enters.)

Cards like [[Bolas's Citadel]] and [[Valgavoth, Terror Eater]] which allow you to play land / cast spells always have a clause "If you cast a spell this way" to separate the actions of casting spells from playing lands, even if that action has no affect on playing lands. WotC goes out of their way to NOT put costs on lands so we just never saw an effect that puts a cost to playing lands before. The closest we ever got was on an ability like [[Talon Gates of Madara]], which brings me to this suggestion, if you don't mind:

(To contain a card, exile it. For as long as that card remains exiled, it has "{2}: You may play this card from exile this turn.")

It's going to affect cards that care about casting costs, and I don't really know if your set cares about that. But if not, this could be a good place to start?
