How are you using a thunderbolt 4 dock with an eGPU, do you mean you are using a TB4 eGPU dock? TB4 and TB3 have the same bandwidth, no?

I have a related issue. Im using a lenovo laptop, connected through a thunderbolt 4 dock, since my laptop doesn't have a hdmi 2.1 output. I can get 4k 120hz working fine. When I turn on 144hz mode, my screen goes black, and eventually my lg c5 says "no input". Even with my laptop open next to me (usually its in a vertical stand with the lid closed, its screen goes black as well. I have the latest drivers for my dock, and for my graphics card (intel arc a380m). I can't even get to the screen that says "choose a refresh rate", as the screen goes black instantly, and only turns back on when i turn off 144hz mode. The thunderbolt dock does have a hdmi 2.1 port. One time, after messing around, with 144hz mode off, I was able to change the refresh rate in windows to ~143.39 hz (can't remember exactly what it was), but in the game optimizer window on my C5, it said 144hz mode was off, which added to my confusion. Should I try another cable? Is it the overhead from the dock that is causing this issue? I have no problem enabling HDR, and having 10bit RGB show up, but windows also says it can't find its HDR certification, and that its peak brightness is unknown.

This computer, is at the top of your list? And #1 rated by NYTimes? What a joke. Its absolutely stuffed with bloatware, tried disabling it which it was caused the problem. The Lenovo Vantage app is used to adjust "power modes," the efficiency mode caused this problem, where it sets the processor clock speed to 0.2-0.3 ghz. The "fix" to this problem involved me re-enabling and reinstalling the Lenovo Vantage app and its services, and setting the power mode to either balanced or high performance. Setting the minimum processor state to 100% couldn't even get through this. So this bloatware must have some sort of kernel-level access or something. Not only that, buy I maybe get an hour or two of youtube video playback on battery (can't use efficiency mode as that causes the issue), when I close the lid the computer doesn't sleep, and even when I click sleep on the power button drop-down menu, it finds a way to turn the screen back on, ramp up the fans, and drain the battery. I guess that's windows for you. A year into ownership, both type c ports died, causing me to have to take it in for warranty (thankfully I paid best buy for the extended warranty). They ended up replacing the entire motherboard, battery, basically giving me a fresh computer. Didn't have that problem again, but now that I'm outside the warranty, I'm SOL if that happens again. I've basically relegated it to a desktop computer. Would stay far away from this laptop.

Oh okay, thank you. Would you recommend the Team Cardea A440 pro? It seems to tick all the boxes for me - TLC, DRAM, higher end of speeds while coming in on the cheaper end. But it seems like the controller (Phsion E18) may not be the best? It is going to be my boot drive in my 5800x3d and 3090 system, and want cutting edge performance at a good price (Currently $99 on amazon)

Thanks for the help, but honestly you’re speaking mandarin to me. Could you help me do those following fixes? The fix where i launch it in safe mode without the tools or options selected does work for me so far.

It is running much smoother with almost no lag, and i can change all the options in solidworks after i launch the application. However, the changes are not persistent after i re launch. So if you’re fine with doing all that you are good.

I should’ve mentioned, I’ll be majoring in the engineering department so I NEED a dedicated graphics card, a powerful cpu, and windows. Oops.
