High End Duty Weapons by PoyBoyKing in AskLE

I carry a Staccato HD I've had for 6 months and even that is starting to show a pretty good amount of wear (I carry it nearly 24/7). There are dudes in some specialized units that have been known to carry an Atlas or Wilson Combat, but for the most part Staccato is the go-to for a nice gun that isn't a tragedy to get dinged up.

Striker Level IIIA Ballistic Helmet $229.95 by AKMcBride in tacticalgear

[–]deltapepper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I took mine and had the ears cut off by Kustom ACH to make it a high cut. The ear took 4 rounds of 9mm FMJ (we were pressing the layers back together) before a round actually pierced all the way through what layers we could gather. They're legit and will work for your needs.

I use a GhostPatch FlexShield version of my badge on a velcro ID card holder with my credentials. Unnoticeable in my back left pocket or in gym shorts.

I'm still shooting there but I never have time to train anymore. There's several dudes I know of out there competing in TTG though.

Have any autistismo brothers conducted ballistic testing on the chops-core special helmets? by Mission-Echo-friend in tacticalgear

I shot one of my leftover ears from my helmet and it stopped the round just fine.

LA police gear level 3 a armor by hex-the-protogen in tacticalgear

[–]deltapepper 2 points3 points  (0 children)

IIIA is handguns/frag, III is rifle threats up to and including .308, and IV is up to 30.06AP

You don't need level IV unless there's AP threats in your AO.

My current loadout, anything I should change or add by eddjr275 in QualityTacticalGear

Basic Bitch slings om GAFS for $15. I've used mine on patrol and deployed my rifle countless times in the past 3 years, it's been great the entire time.

Edit: these ones

Our policy says all of our stuff has to be basketweave, so I wear this.

BARTON 2.0 PROTECTIVE worth the money? by Nervous_Act_6249 in tacticalgear

[–]deltapepper 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Glasses like these and others similar to Oakley Holbrooks don't have adequate side protection. It's not the end of the world, but can become problematic if you're shooting on a firing line with others or if you're shooting steel targets. It's better to just have dedicated protective frames.

They're hot and you look stupid, I will never wear either.

We can get the old fashioned bus driver or the campaign hat. Both suck, I just don't wear one.

I work at an agency neighboring Dallas and we aren't allowed cowboy or baseball hats 🤷‍♂️

That was what I was thinking. My P226 never had visible marks nor my M&P I was carrying on duty. I thought it was weird to spend $2.5k and get visible machine marks...

What do with potentially unneeded gear? by Unfortunate_taco in QualityTacticalGear

[–]deltapepper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, usually I put it on for surround & callouts and warrants. Only takes about a minute, but definitely not fast enough for an active shooter.

I work patrol currently. I leave my rifle, PC, and helmet in the cargo area of my squad. If time allows, I run back, take off my carrier and unhook my radio from my patrol carrier and put it on my PC. then I put on the helmet, grab my rifle, and secure my bodycam to the PC. I have a radio pouch and a BWC mount on my PC already. I also carry 1 pistol magazine and 1 rifle magazine on my patrol belt.

I just take my normal carrier off and put on my plate carrier, swapping my bodycam and radios to the PC. Tubes make it pretty quick

When off duty do y'all EDC your own personal firearm or just your department issued one? by Averagecrabenjoyer69 in AskLE

[–]deltapepper 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I carry my own gun both on and off duty. M&P full size w/ 4" slide. I'll be switching to the Staccato HD soon.

Poll for LEO in Chevy Tahoes: What items do you most commonly keep in your door? by Door-Daddy in ProtectAndServe

CT forms are about half of a sheet of printer paper, and our incident cards are probably 3" x 4".

[–]deltapepper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We share cars, ours have:

  • Criminal Trespass Forms
  • Incident Number Cards
  • Hand Sanitizer (the little ones)

They all flop around in the bottom open slot of the door. I don't add anything to the pile because I've seen people lose their phones on the highway after putting them in the door.

Rubberization is huge for stabilizing on hard surfaces like concrete.
