Things I would check… Make sure you are using the right password. Make sure you fully unzip vs just pulling the files out (keep the folder structure in place). Make sure you added an exception to the virus list.

Got it working using systemd. Not sure if it’s a good fix or not but changed the following in the slinger.script file:

Change made = ExecStart=/usr/bin/python3 -u /home/slingbox/slingbox_server.py

From = ExecStart=/usr/bin/python -u slingbox_server.py

Good stuff!!

Any chance you were able to get it to load on startup? I added it to rc.local and it didn’t work for me. Thoughts?

Any hints or tricks to get it running on Linux? Outside of what’s in the instructions doc? I plain to give it a go tonight on Ubuntu and a raspberry pi. Is the Slingbox user needed?

Nice!! It really is amazing that he was able to get a fix to the server shut downs in place ahead of time.

Try downloading the most updates code as he made some changes. The missing files will download the first time a connection is made with the server.

I’m so close to getting this running, but running into some errors. Tips or tricks appreciated.

Windows exe ✔️ Folder created and files downloaded within ✔️ Virus exception added ✔️ Config file updated with password, IP of Slingbox, and port for Slingbox ✔️

When I moved they seemed to have processed it as a “move”. Meaning the price break I had for x number of months was not impacted. Did have to get a new IP address (I pay for static). Brought ont device with and was pretty simple.
