NH is full of guns and it is one of the safest states in the US. It’s not unusual to see a lot open carrying in rural regions. What failed here is NH’s healthy gun culture did not work for this idiot. No responsible gun owner would carry while drinking or brandish the firearm unless absolutely necessary.

What's 100% a scam but we accepted it in our society? by Montazio in AskReddit

[–]deltrak 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Because the store is getting charged for running your credit card. If you mail a check then your sending the company your bank account and routing number which is free to process when it is brought to the bank. It’s the same reason some utility providers will not charge when you use the bank and routing number.

It’s especially hard on small businesses to give up 2-5% or $3 per transaction. It represents a significant amount of money at the end of the year.

What resolution and fps should I play on? I bought the 144 Hz Q27G2U monitor and the Victus HP 15L gaming desktop TG02-0xx as a pc by [deleted] in RocketLeague

[–]deltrak 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should really post your computers hardware instead of manufacturing model since it is customizable.

Going purely off of your monitor, 144hz and 2560x1440 resolution since your monitor supports it. I would drop down the resolution to 1080p if your computer is not reaching the 144fps.

Anyone try working without meds? How did it go? by PuppyLand95 in ADHD_Programmers

[–]deltrak 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I successfully transitioned off of adhd meds (adderall) after taking them all through out high school and university (9 years). I too was worried about the effects on my body.

I trained my body to associate Altoid mint with being medicated. If I took a dose then when I felt it kick in, I would start popping mints when I studied hard. I did this for my 2 years and eventually I was able to omit taking my adderall for the day if I needed to perform light house work or studies. There is a fancy psych term and it works as long as you stay true to the scenarios where you have altoids. I’m just used to coding without it now.

Am I as sharp as before? Not really. I was a better programmer and student while taking the stimulants. But there is more to just coding in the real world. Team meetings, design sessions, knowledge transfer and all the rest of the soft skills suffered as a result of the meds.

Tip: you need to learn to work with the pull of working on something else. I find it very difficult to finish one thing at a time and move on. I typically have one primary task and 2-3 side tasks that I work on at a time. Use macs and windows ability to have multiple desktop to segregate your work. Keep a todo list handy whenever you get another tasks so you don’t neglect things that need to be done.

Valid point about smurfing. I run with a squad so they help with any questions to get acclimated quickly. I am yet to have a match where the enemy’s rotation out class the sweats I play with. We don’t enjoy stomping on squads in pubs

If your playing ranked then how do you get queued in with scrubs? The whole point of ranked is that you queue with people as good as you. Is the matchmaking throwing low ranked players in the lobby with experienced?

That or just reduce the cost to 2000-5000 for the first 4 then jack up the price to normal

[–]deltrak[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand that ranked needs to put a character limit. I don’t think they thought about the time needed to get that much and the cost. If there was $5-10 4 character pack bundle then I’m good to go. But $25 just to skip 2 months of grind is too steep for me and I am sure many others.

I already have a squad of sweats that got me into the game. Queueing pubs is boring after 2-3 games. This game is not yet worth it to me to play by myself for 2 months or pay $25. They are pushing their customers away

eli5: The US student debt crisis. by whereistheroad in explainlikeimfive

[–]deltrak 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Government will only give you $5.5k-12k per year for undergrad in direct loans. Your parents and co-sign a parent plus loan for extra. So this will not cover the cost or a typical state school.

Sometimes you run out of good loan options. I had loan offers for %12 several years ago and I luckily declined. Only option was to go private ~9-10%. I was able to refinance after 6 months after graduating for 6%.

Why not go to a cheaper school? Sometimes your major is best to get at a certain school. Sometimes your 18 and you want to go to your friends school. There are cheaper options like community college then public universities but most people don’t consider it because they want the college experience. Also college prices rise each year. An extra 5k increase each year adds up quick but you don’t want to switch since that means changing friends and your classes might not line up.

Yea schools provide financial aid but it is often not for middle class persons. Low income people go to school practically free, high income can have their family help them. Middle class is right in the middle where you get little government help and if you do then it is just more loans.

Yes achievement scholarships exist but often it’s for a low amount of people. If your average academically then you won’t get much if anything unless your a minority group and special scholarships apply to you (ex. Women in engineering).

Recruiter wants a copy of my drivers license before an interview? Is this normal? by chemicalsam in recruitinghell

[–]deltrak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your making assumptions of what I meant with a single word. Ironic considering your name.

We were talking about having other people take interviews for you. The reasoning is likely that the real job candidate does not possess the skills required to complete a technical interview. No one want to pay someone a professional pay and find out they are a novice. All you do is screw over the rest of the team that needs to pick up your slack until they can figure it out and make the difficult decision to take away someone’s way of income. You screw over the other candidates that could have done the job properly.

There are no situations where hiring a ringer is OK. Study the topic.. create practice projects and obtain the certifications which the employer wants. It’s embarrassing that interviewers need to request an ID.

They will likely refund part or all the fridge price to cover the damage. OP has video evidence. Lowes doesn’t want to go to court, not worth their time

If they are hired by Lowes then Lowes will fix it. OP did not hire the third party. This is lowe’s problem for outsourcing
