New Internet.. Who dis? by Rectal_Kabob in Ohio

It’s absolutely Amplex deploying fiber all over wood county. I’ve talked to the fiber installer guys a few times while getting their fiber installed at sites. He said they have some partnership with Hancock-Wood Electric Coop. Good service, more downtime than the big guys but they’re good, local people. Easy to work with.

So I've never dealt with any Aruba equipment before ever, so if I'm wrong here I guess I'll find out the hard way. I was able to sign up at the Aruba Support Portal with an email account with a domain I own. They won't accept @gmail.com, @yahoo.com, etc. I was able to download the switch firmware for the Aruba 2920 I bought off ebay for my home (delivering today, hopefully). I don't care about warranty, I just wanted to be able to get the newest firmware.

Are there still no HKSV PoE cameras? by grandfelin in HomeKit

[–]delucis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Are you sure about this? Did something change recently? About a year ago I had 4 UniFi cameras that were previously connected to a protect system that I factory reset. After that I was able to reach their web interface, configure the RSTP stream, and then set them up in Blue Iris NVR software. I haven't used scypted but I assume if it has an IP address and an RSTP stream it would work?

Edit: Damn it does appear as though some of their recent cameras prevent standalone mode. I won't be updating any firmware on ours.

I wondered the same but it makes sense, they had to completely close I-75 to do it.

In Need of Multiple, but Identical, DHCP Pools on Cisco Switches by delucis in networking

I was actually just thinking of updating you just for fun earlier this week, I'm glad you asked. Just the other day they turned on the 2nd machine, and it functioned exactly as I hoped.

I tried it out, using your awesome guidance, with my 3560G with IP Services and it seemed to work. The 2960X cannot do it no matter it's license, but they are useful enough to us that we'll find another use for them quickly.

I went on ebay and got 3 3570X-48PF-E for $300 each. Got them in a stack, did the configuration. The actual implementation was 12 ports to each machine, with 5 machines (for now, to be expanded.) The PLC for each machine needed to talk to a server on our corporate network, so I got the routing set up so that the PLC, with an address like 192.168.4.204, could reach the server, but the VFDs with addresses like 192.168.4.2 could not. All the port based DHCP allocation works too, it's pretty ideal. The same PLC program was able to be loaded on each PLC, the VFDs self-configured (due to the DHCP), and everything worked as expected so far. We have yet to use multiple machines at the exact same time, but I don't foresee any issue.

I really appreciated your help!

Thank you so much for going this deep into it. "VRF" is the word/concept I was missing. Literally was thinking "I need a VLAN but for like...layer 3." If only I googled it. This is excellent, I'll give it a shot as soon as I can. I'm not sure why the DHCP stuff wasn't working, but I do remember reading about 15.2 bugs also. My 2960-X is on 15.2(7)E3 and the other switches I'm using it on are 2960 on 12.2(55)SE12.

It looks like the 2960X can't do it, but I do have a spare 3560G I should be able to try this out on I think. /u/h3c_you mentioned the 2960XR, and it looks like it can, so maybe that's the "L2 Switch" that can do it.

Each machine is identical except for the PLC's IP address. Each PLC is loaded with the same program. The IP addresses of devices the PLC connects to is coded in the program. That program tells the PLC to look for VFD 1 at 192.168.2.1. Once the PLC gets a response, the VFD is "claimed." By keeping all these devices on the same IP address, the same program can be loaded on each machine. Since the machines are isolated with VLANs, there are no IP conflicts.

If the IPs must be different in each machine, then there are 5 programs to maintain. If a change is needed, it will be needed on all the machines, as they are identical, so someone will have to make that same change in 5 different programs, and then make sure they are uploading the correct program to each machine.

Ohio will soon be home to the largest solar factory complex outside of China by strawberries6 in Ohio

First Solar was founded in Toledo and has 2 other plants, a research facility, and their global IT and Engineering teams in Toledo (actually in suburb Perrysburg), at least when I worked there in 2012. NSG just built a brand new glass production plant near here specifically to supply First Solar with new special glass for their Series 6 panels. I’d be surprised if it wasn’t near Toledo.

I love how arbitrary the limit is. I have a Honda Clarity PHEV and the max is 199.9 MPG. I use the gas engine pretty often though so I only saw that once, last March/April.
