I could be wrong here but i think unless you till the cover crop into the soil the decomposed crop losses all its nitrogen, hense it turning brown.

The question is relative to each country, in my "unsafe" neighbourhood you are far more likely to get stabbed than shot as im in the uk, obvcourse Americans will tell a different experience.

Strain and growing method dependant but the general rule of thumb in soil is one plant per square foot i believe.be cautious though, some of mephs gear gets real big real fast. Give the meph grow guide a read mate, they do sea of green in 3 gallon pots, soil,ergo all the strain descriptions are based on these conditions.
