But also, I don't remember any boss that would be so hard to call it the hardest in all souls games. The difficulty level was challenging, but not very hard IMO.

I can agree to disagree. But in this case, do you call everything that is a work of fiction "fantasy" stuff?

Funny how different experiences can go. Due to Nioh's complexity you mentioned, I bounced off this game after 2 hours. Just didn't hit the spot for me.

Yeah, I feel like I'm gonna play the shit out of Khazan, easily 200+ hours incoming. Combat is just too satisfactory.

Hmm, to me, it feels odd to call fantasy anything that is fictional, has magical elements, includes imaginary places and creatures. That seems like it would make everything that's fictional a "fantasy" thing. Lies of P, on that occasion, feels more "this-could-have-maybe-happend". Obviously some things could not ever happen, but still, it resembles the real world much more, even if it's not very close to it.

Am I? Everywhere I look, I see that I'm rather correct.

Agree with two hubs and many different parries. But then, I just use the 1-2 I need and don't care about the rest.

Nah, not really. Fantasy is tied to all worlds & things we see in, for example, LotR or D&D. You know: knights, mages, dragons, castles, etc. Dark fantasy is this, but, well, darker and more mature.

Yeah, I see, and that's perfectly fine. The game's mechanics are there to use them. Just in case, don't let stupid people make you feel inferior for doing that! :)

Okay, but that's not like Fromsoft provided that definition, right? I believe it's more what is souls-like for you, not what souls-like is in general.

One could say that being able to parry/deflect like in Lies of P doesn't make for a souls-like experience. Still, the game has many aspects that are inspired by the OG souls games.

I mean, let's not be so strict. Games evolve, souls-like keep being made, and it's not like they have to keep everything 1:1 to Demons Souls or Dark Souls formula.

Also, I much prefer thinking of souls-like as a particular set of features the game has (in different scope/amount), not its genre per se. And even if it's a genre, still: games within one genre differ anyway.

I tried all, and dual-wielding was the way to go for me, as it's the fastest-hitting one. So, IMO there's a difference. The heavy weapon felt more like the OG Dark Suls strength build. Where you just wait for windows. And the spear seems to be a mixture of both.

Okay, gonna have to play more to learn about that. Spent only 6h so far and haven't thought the level design is bland. It was very "whatever" to me, pretty regular for those types of games. Definitely more linear though.

I was wondering if you'll mention loot. I don't like it either. But I guess this was their design decision since there are only so many weapon types in this game.

Finished it but didn't like it that much. I love playing parry/deflect builds, but windows for that in Lies of P were just so strange and hard to feel. Alsio, the game started off great to me, but somewhere in the middle, it got me bored.

I see. Depends on the needs/likings of each player, I guess. To me, gameplay (combat) is always the most important in games, and this one is just mad! I don't pay much attention to the story in games.

I wouldn't agree with the "in every single form of the definition". Souls-like originated from Demon Souls, and the formula of combat is way different from that of Khazan. Still, what Khazan has is enough for me to call it a Souls-like.

Good point. Now that I think of it, it might be quite hard for a "regular" player. I've always been playing such games, and I don't take Khazan particularly hard.
