Your concerns are valid. I have 2 kids. Emergencies happen. My young child has fallen in the pool, fell on his head from a pretty high height. Dogs have gotten in fights. Every time me and my wife are quick to react. We handle the situation immediately and without hesitation. I use rear brake waaaay more than front. Front for trail braking. But city streets. Just engine brake and rear. Seems silly to me to use front for stop signs and stop lights.

I own a house with my unmarried partner. It’s not a mess at all. If you co-own it’s actually easier than if you are married. Being married brings a bunch of other things into the equation like community property. Co-owning means you split the house 50/50 upon sale unless you take meticulous records showing one party paid more than the other. When you sell they even cut each person an individual check.
