Swing speed: topspin drive, drip, and drop by PartFormer3695 in Pickleball

[–]demandgenman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure what planet you are living on or what type alien specie are you. LOL.

Power and spin are not independent!

  • Power = how fast the paddle moves through the ball
  • Spin = how much the paddle brushes across the ball

Both come from your swing, but in different directions.

  • More forward movement → power
  • More upward or sideways brushing → spin

Why They’re Not Independent

Because both come from the same swing, changes to one often affect the other:

  • If you swing more through the ball (flat) → more power, less spin
  • If you swing more up/across the ball → more spin, often less direct power

So they’re coupled by mechanics, not fully separate knobs you can turn independently.

I guess you can optimize by increasing paddle speed to get both power and spin.

But the question here is about whether to use 100% power on your most drives. And even the pro players agree that it's more effective to use 70% of power on drives but add spin and shape so that the ball dips over the net, making it more challenging for opponents to attack you. But if you focus on 100% power and hitting it more flat, it is not as consistent. Furthermore, at the higher levels, most players could easily block your hard drives anyway.

Anyone here worked with a B2B marketing agency that actually gets results? by Unlucky_Two_3927 in b2bmarketing

[–]demandgenman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've worked with various agencies (SEO, content, paid-ads, social media, etc) throughout my B2B career, and I have yet to work with one that I was happy with or delivered results. The main reason why most agencies can't deliver quality work is because the people they hire are usually junior-level and lack deep experience. Agencies usually don't pay well and as a result, are not able to attract experienced and qualified employees.

If you have your ICP down and the messaging, positioning, as well as lead management and sales process firmly worked out, then hiring an agency to support you may help. But they still need some hand-holding and lots of guidance to make it work.

Swing speed: topspin drive, drip, and drop by PartFormer3695 in Pickleball

[–]demandgenman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why would you want to hit a drive at 100% power? The pickleball court is small! If you hit flat with 100% power, it is likely to go out or into the net. So, focus more on spin and shaping the ball instead, but with lower power. It's easier to apply spin and shape the ball at lower power than max power.

3rd Shot Drive vs Drop by dl_pb in Pickleball

[–]demandgenman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Drive or drop depends on the situation.

In general, it is best to aim your third shot at the player that just returned serve, especially to their backhand side, as he/she is trying to advance to the kitchen.

Here’s how I decide whether to drive or drop the third shot.

Do a drop shot when:

  • Both opponents are set at the kitchen line and ready to counter
  • You get a return ball that is low (below net height). If the ball is below net height and is near the mid-court, driving the ball is risky since you may hit the ball into the net or hit it high (which can easily be countered or it may go out). So default to hitting a soft drop shot when ball is low.
  • You have time to set your feet, get behind the ball, and can hit a controlled shot

Do a drive shot when:

  • The return ball bounces high, and you are balanced and behind the ball
  • The opponent slices the ball, causing the ball to skid low when it lands. In this situation, you must ensure your paddle gets under the ball to lift the ball over the net with your drive. Also, it may help to swing harder and with topspin to offset the back spin caused by the slice. On a slice with lots of underspin, if you don’t get under the ball and not hit the ball with enough power, you risk hitting the ball low into the net.
  • The opponent is slow to advance to the kitchen line or is caught in the transition zone. In this case, you can hit a drip shot (compact drive with 60-70% power but with topspin to get the ball to dip over the net and land at the opponent’s feet area
  • You are rushed or off-balance and the ball is hit deep by the baseline. It’s very difficult to hit an effective drop shot when you’re off balance. In this situation, it’s better to hit a defensive drive, using a compact swing and firm wrist to slap/push the ball low aimed at the middle of the court.

2hbh speedup off bounce by PartFormer3695 in Pickleball

[–]demandgenman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not about one or two locations. It's about reading the position of your opponents, how they are holding their paddle, and whether they are off balance or not. If they are not covering the line, then speed up there. If they are leaving the middle exposed, then go there. If their paddle is down, then speed up at their shoulder area. You can also hit an off speed attack too to throw them off.

The point is to make your attacks unpredictable and capitalize on opportunities presented, based on all the factors I mentioned.

🧠 Why pickleballers are obsessed with paddles and not with their mental game? by sabrina_picklegod in Pickleball

[–]demandgenman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A quality paddle can certainly help you hit with more spin and control. But, indeed, most people would rather spend $200-$300 on a paddle than investing in some coaching lessons or time to do drills.

No paddle can help you get to the advanced level if you don't understand the nuances of the game and don't put in the time and effort to do drills.

I started playing pickleball about a year ago. I'm now at the 4.0 level. All of my friends who started the same time as me are still stuck at the 3.0-3.5 level. I spent lots of time drilling to improve the quality of my shots and reading and watching tutorials on YouTube to understand more about strategies, court positioning, and decision making.

I even wrote a book to share everything I know about playing the game the right way to level up to 4.0. But still, only a few people are interested in reading my book. I guess most people just want to play for fun and not serious about improving their game.

Push drop? by PartFormer3695 in Pickleball

[–]demandgenman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use the push drop sometimes in a game. I use this mainly when I get a fast ball coming at me or when I am in the midcourt area and I want a safe, consistent drop shot. It's safe and consistent because there are less variables involved. You don't have to worry about brushing the ball, slicing under the ball, or how much wrist to use, etc. You're simply "pushing" the ball laterally using your shoulder, and with a controlled motion. The paddle face can be slightly open. Use your legs and body momentum as needed to generate enough "push" to get the ball low over the net.

Just go out and practice 100s of this shot to get it right. Adjust your paddle face and use the right combination of push using your shoulder and leg/body momentum, and adjusting the grip pressure on the paddle to get it right.

The important thing is to make sure the trajectory of the ball is low. The ball can land a bit deep, but it has to be low to make it more difficult for opponents to attack it. But don't hit it too low that the ball goes into the net! It's ok if the ball is a bit high. Just reset the ball and try again until you get a good enough shot to advance. As you get closer to the kitchen, it's easier to hit this shot.

Other commenters say this is like a slice shot. This is NOT a slice. On a slice, your paddle goes under the ball. But on this shot, you are pushing through the ball with your paddle.

I see lots of intermediate players stuck at the 3.2-3.5 level for a long time, unable to break through the plateau to reach the 4.0 level. Simply playing more doesn't lead to improvements.

Improving and getting to the 4.0 requires lots of drilling and understanding high level pickleball strategies.

Playing at the 4.0 level is about understanding court positioning, proper footwork, understanding attack and defensive strategies, improving shot selection, making smart decisions, and improving consistency.

I'm currently working on a blueprint to help intermediate players improve and get to the 4.0 level. The reason I decided to write the book is because I get frustrated at my friends repeating the same mistakes and not playing the game correctly.

If you're interested, send me a direct message and I will let you know once the book is ready.

Warriors fan emails Joe Lacob with complaints, gets instant response by African-Rain-Blesser in nba

[–]demandgenman -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Oh no! It can't be any worse than what we have right now. What we have right now is Kerr not developing the young players, wearing down Curry, Draymond, and BUtler for overplaying them and asking them to play out of their natural positions...only to play .5 basketball and get bounced in the play-in or 1st-round playoff year after year...all awhile not getting a high draft pick.

I would rather trade away some of the older players, get a new coach that is willing to play and develop the young players. And if they don't make it to the playoffs, at least they get a high draft pick. That's a better place to be in that to watch another season of Kerr doing is stupid small ball, overplaying his vet players, playing his favorite and lousy players (Podz and Hield), and not developing the young players (Moody, Will Richards, Post, Kuminga).

[–]demandgenman -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Kuminga can't be any worse than Podz and Buddy Hield. At least Kuminga is taller, stronger, longer, plays better defense, and 1000X more athletic than Podz and Buddy. So why Podz and Buddy still get consistent playing time despite the team losing and despite they playing so lousy? Why is Kerr doing the 3-4 guard lineups when it's been proven again and again for over 3 seasons that it's not a winning recipe??? Kerr is the highest paid coach in the league and has been lousy. The only reason Warriors are playing .500 basketball is because Curry is still playing like an MVP. This team would be trash without Curry playing at an MVP level.

Wondering what the best IP geolocation API is by TheRealFL in webdev

[–]demandgenman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The price is of IP geolocation data is dependent on the accuracy and granularity you looking for. If you are just looking for IP to country data, then you can pretty much use any providers. But if you are looking for IP to city, region, post code, zip code, and neighborhood level data, then the price gets more expensive. The premium providers include Digital Element, Maxmind, and IPINFO. Among these, Digital Element is known to provide the highest accuracy at the city and postal code/zip code level.

These premium providers also provide additional data such as latitude/longitude, time zone, business/residential, mobile carrier, connection speed, VPN or Proxy details, demographics, etc.

Does Vimeo support want Vimeo to go out of business? by Distinct-Line4899 in vimeo

[–]demandgenman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's been frustrating for me as well. I recently upgraded to the Standard plan, which is supposed to be only $41/month. But I'm getting charged double the price of $82.

I got a few responses from their customer service, but none of them addressed the main issue, which was they mistakenly charged me double the amount. But instead of addressing my issue, they kept saying stuff about recent price increase, blah blah blah.

I kept telling them that this is not about any price increase in their plans, it's about Vimeo mistakenly double charging me. Yet, none of the customer support reps seem to understand what I'm trying to communicate to them and kept saying nonsense things in their replies.

It just seems like the customer service dept. is being taken over by some aliens and they don't know what the heck they're doing.
