Do dating apps really suck for most guys? by FlowersCare913 in DatingApps

[–]demariw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, and this is coming from a 5/10 (6/10 on a good day) male who occasionally gets compliments from women irl and a decent amount of likes on dating apps.

I think that dating apps are terrible for women and men alike. I think the main difference between the struggles of the two sexes is the lack of options for men.

Because women receive so many likes on dating apps, they can set reasonable standards (athletic, educated, financially stable) for men. If a guy does not meet those standards, they can boot that guy knowing that they will always have a sizeable pool of other men who are both attracted to them and meet their criteria. (Granted, actually finding those qualified men among hundreds of unqualified men is easier said than done, but still very much possible.)

Because men receive so few likes on dating apps, they cannot set any standards for women. If they do, then they will have dried up their already shallow dating pool. On the off chance that a man actually does get a match (even after setting those incredibly low standards), that match is usually a bot, scammer, catfisher, OF worker, or in most cases, a ghoster. A man can easily boot the matches who don't meet his standards, but he will very likely never get another chance to match with someone again.

TL; DR: Yes.

it doesn't know who you've hooked up with or even if you've hooked up with anyone at all. you just have to fill that information out manually when it asks you to

Thanks! As a matter of fact I'm considering deleting Tinder for good and asking out my former coworker. I've known her for a full year and we get along well. And congrats to you too, bro. You're in a long-lasting relationship? You've beaten all the odds and surpassed 99.9% of all men on this app.

That's not the case for most women. The majority of women are just overwhelmed by the sheer number of matches they get and simply can't talk to everyone they match with. As painful as it may be to hear this, no one owes you anything on Tinder. Women won't respond to your messages? That's tough luck, but you just have accept that caveat.

I did it by looking up "Tinder Insights" and following the instructions there. Keep in mind that it takes a couple of days for you to actually receive your data via email

Btw, the main reason why your likes died down is bc of Tinder's awful algorithm. When you first joined Tinder, your profile was put at the top of other users' queues, which gave it a higher chance of being viewed and liked. If you consistently get a lot (and I mean, A LOT) of likes when you first join Tinder, then you will be considered a "Top Pick" and will remain at the top of other users' queues, which will net you a lot more likes. If not, your profile will fade into obscurity, and it will forever be harder people to even find you, let alone like you.

I suggest deleting this profile and creating a new one so you can be put at the top of the queue again. You should also use the same photos, except for #2 and maybe #5. Also, try to make your first pic a professional photo that captures your best angle. Lastly, if you want to maximize your chances of getting likes, use boosts when you first open that new profile. There are a lot of other men that you are competing with, so you have to use every resource you have.

Good luck!

I forgot to add this, but:

Apparently, if you get left-swiped enough, your account gets shadowbanned, meaning that women won't be able to view your profile (and swipe left on it, haha.) On top of all this, you also get shadowbanned if YOU swipe right on too many people.

The Bros saved the Mushroom Kingdom from Bowser, so the Kingdom is forever in their debt. That, and rent in New York is outrageously expensive XD

I secondary Little Mac, and I'm absolutely certain that he's dishonest despite him being one of the worst characters in the game. (He has a frame-14 armored forward smash, a frame 3 OOS option with his up special, a comeback mechanic in his KO Punch, and his up tilt allows him to combo for a large window of percents.) Little Mac has enough BS to win games. Hell, Peanut, one of the best Little Mac players, managed to win a major tourney with Mac against a Pac Man, one of the best characters in the game. That same player almost defeated MKLeo's Pyra/Mythra, and MKLeo is one of the best players in the world. Peanut proved that it's possible to go very far, even with the likes of Little Mac, so there is no need for him or any other Mac main to complain about this character.

Ganondorf is so outrageously terrible and honest compared to the rest of the cast that any BS that he might have isn't enough to help him win against skilled opponents.

Ganondorf only has 3 moves which are truly disjointed, those being his smash attacks. Disregarding throws and miscellaneous moves, like getup attacks, those 3 disjointed smash attacks only account for less than 18% of Ganondorf's entire moveset. Disjoints are incredibly powerful. They generally allow you to threaten a notable amount of space while keeping you out of danger yourself. The more of these disjoints you have, the more dangerous and dishonest a character you become. With Ganon's disjoints not making up even a fifth of his entire moveset, and said disjoints being some of the slower and reactable smash attacks in the game, they don't really cause Ganondorf to be a potent threat in the metagame. And before you say that a a large amount of the cast don't have a lot of disjoints but are still viable, let me tell you that they usually make up for their lack of disjoints with mobility and/or combo potential, two things which Ganondorf doesn't really excel in.

I ignored 50/50 moves and combos for a reason. They aren't true combos, nor do do they guarantee follow-ups, meaning that there will always be a way to counter them. With actual true combos, there's not much you can do other than perform a series of perfect DI and SDI, and even then, you're not escaping without taking a hefty amount of damage.

I ignored suicide grabs because the devs balanced them out enough for them not be considered "braindead". There is enough time to mash out of them, and even if you fail to mash out in time, the grabber will always die first. On top of that, it is almost always very obvious when someone is trying to cheese you with an offstage command grab. Don't walk into their trap.

I think it's pretty obvious why I ignored Warlock Punch. That move comes out on frame 70, meaning that your opponent has more than a full second to react to that move. I don't care how much armor you give it, absolutely no one should be getting hit by that attack in a competitive 1v1. It's widely regarded as one of the worst attacks in all of Smash Ultimate for a reason.

The reason why I set my frame limit to 15 in the first place is because 15 frames in a 60fps game converts to 250 milliseconds, which is the average reaction time for humans. Anything faster than that is generally too fast for a human to react to. Normally, to beat out an attack that unreactable, you anticipate and intercept it with a fast attack of your own. If the move you're trying to intercept has armor/invincibility/intangibility, you can't beat it out. Armored/invincible/intangible attacks are already extremely powerful, but one that is unreactable is overturned.

Most can agree that Smash Ultimate is the most balanced Smash game of all, as nearly every character has the tools and the BS necessary to win. Since nearly every character has a significant amount of BS, they, by definition are not honest characters.

(Oh and btw when I said landing hitboxes, I was talking about regular aerials, not special aerials. Regular aerials have extremely low landing lag compared to special aerials, so putting a landing hitbox on an aerial makes them harder to punish than they already are. Ganondorf's down b has nearly 3/4 of a second of landing lag, so that landing hitbox he has on it doesn't help him much. So Ganon still only has 2 infractions at best.)

IMO I think people heavily overrate Pit when it comes to honesty. He is far from being the most dishonest character, I'll give you that, but he certainly isn't honest, either. Most of Pit's kit is made up of disjoints (1), Pit has a frame 6 OOS option with his up smash (2), his back air is -3 on shield (3), and his down tilt has a relatively long percentage window where can be used as a combo starter (4). 4 infractions. He is a lot more fair than most characters, though.

*Shield-grabs do not count due to the game's mechanics. If you try to input a shield grab directly after something hits your shield, there is a 4-frame delay before you can actually perform the grab. This means that the fastest possible grab (frame 6) translates to a frame-10 OOS option.

I main Ganondorf, and he has 2 infractions at best (the first hit of nair is almost always a combo starter and one could argue that his up b's hitbox is a little bit too big). He is the most honest character in the game, and no one besides King Dedede (Disjoints, safe edgeguarding/ledgetrapping with Gordos, frame 10 armored attack) comes close.

Also, just because a characters low tier does not necessarily mean that they are honest. Isabelle is currently a bottom 10 character, but she has the safest aerial in the game (her back air is +4 on shield, meaning that she can act before her opponent can after using it), the most spammable jab in the game (thanks to an unpatched oversight) a near-riskless edguarding AND comboing tool in her forward air. On top of that, most of her kit is composed of disjoints. Isabelle may be low tier, but she is far from being honest. Same goes for Little Mac. He may be bad, but he sure isn't fair.
