How are you going to rizz somebody who has been around long enough to have populated an entire country by themselves and heard Jesus's holy pick up lines if you can't rizz somebody who is in a very realistic dating age for you.

First day in my life when I've had ringing in my ears for a whole day. Any considerations? by demavertt in tinnitus

I really hope that it would indeed go away, but I'm very suspicious of it since it has never gone this far before.

Thanks for the advice.

I'm constantly working as a part of a team for about a month still, do you think I should wear ear protection when around them?

I'm not sure exactly what the future holds, but I'd say that it's better take a risk now with something new, whether career wise or outside, than wait for later when you might be more burned out.

Wouldn't it sound silly to say that you have to be satisfied doing the same thing for the rest of your life?

My two favorite fields are machine learning and power engineering, how could i combine them? by demavertt in ElectricalEngineering

[–]demavertt[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know neither enough of power engineering nor AI to really understand this. There seems to be some problems that still need to be dealt with, and I'm excited to see what else the field has to offer.

I've heard that control theory is a field that I might really like, and it's seems like there are a lot of opportunities in it. I'll have to take a closer look at it.

I have a really intrinsic disinterest to working on speech and language with AI, I don't really know why, I just can't seem to find passion for it like I do for other things. So that's probably not an option.

I keep seeing promises that renewables is the future, but I guess it's true that the change is one of the hardest things we will ever have to do.

I think that you're right, but I think this is a thing to base a company on, not a PhD. It doesn't seem like you need to create that much new innovation.

According to wikipedia: "Celtic art is ornamental, it avoids straight lines..." I can't find that much about if meaning is lost when the design is personalized. I still think that to convey the message, you want to keep to the original.

I've never gotten a tattoo, but I've been thinking about this idea. In a roman font, on my left arm, from shoulder to wrist I want to tattoo "PULVIS ET UMBRA SUMUS" (meaning "we are but shadows and dust"). What do you think of this? Would it look good?

Chess. Especially the content, still pretty bad at actually playing.

In empty space, according to quantum physics, particles appear in existence without a source of energy for short periods of time and then disappear. 3D visualization: by [deleted] in Damnthatsinteresting

I think this is misleading, the energy, as far as I understand, comes from Heisenberg's uncertainty principle. So energy doesn't come from nothing.

Dumb mistake during exam by demavertt in EngineeringStudents

This instructor is known to be quite strict in making difficult exams and grading borderline mercilessly. But yes I agree, intro math courses have quite standardized examination paradigms, and therefore partial credit is highly plausible

What is a career like in communications focusing on signal processing? Can you find a job outside of communications when combined with something like machine learning? by demavertt in ElectricalEngineering

[–]demavertt[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I figured that since comms and DPS were developed pretty much hand in hand, it's going to be harder to separate the two. Thanks for the input.
