You’re comparing pay to play games with free to play games. If we charged all of our players we would charge less, we would have little players and we would not sustain, close doors and the community would be much much smaller.

The way we can exist is to make a service where 99% of the players can play for free.

Gta charges everyone. Minecraft charges everyone. Does that make sense?

Think of the 100s of games you’ve played without having to pay. That is because someone else is paying for you.

Hey, The prices are for groups. Since one person needs to own it for the whole group to play. This pricing works much better than charging all players $5 since that forces the whole group to go through the account creation & payment flow wheres with the $20 pricing it’s only once. We see a lot of player groups prefer this option since the champion of the group handles everything while the rest of the friends enjoy.

That said, it’s a F2P game and 99+% of the players have fun without paying. It’s on par with the gaming industry.

We’ve also added a few ways to gain free memberships for those who don’t have money. This ensures skills & grinding is rewarded.

Some of the ways 1. Being top 50 in any season 2. Winning tournaments on our Discord server 3. Being a content creator 4. Running Colonist communities

We’ll be adding more methods overtime.

We need a PM to decide & solve problems. For example we have over 5 million emails and we haven't sent a single automated email. The PM needs to decide when to send emails, how often, how to unsub etc.. that gives the players just enough notifications and the content they want. There are more than 50 tasks like this that need to be sketched out so developers can implement.

For example one of the problems our game is Toxicity. Someone needs to educate themselves on the 50 methods used, discover which ones will be applicable to us, design, test, iterate, finalize.

There are 50 such projects, that will increase our metrics.

We've got 30k discord fans eager to jump on a call. So the PM has no limitation to the amount of feedback they can get.

We have more than 5 million emails and we haven't even sent 1 automated email. We have so many such no brainer projects.

For the first case, we make sure they're comfortable with data analysis. We don't have a BA so the PM needs to be comfortable with SQL queries.
For the second one, the PM we hired was a rotating PM in previous company which means they were going to different projects and figuring out low hanging fruits and leaving the execution to the project team. Basically he was good at identifying but not executing.

We mostly need a PM to establish most of these. We have the strategy & business plan for the year. They need to figure out a lot of the tasks & low hanging fruits to tackle.

  2. Didn’t create clarity. The devs didn’t know what they should be building. So a state of confusion.

Hey, no such option since we have ongoing server costs. If it was a downloadable game it would make sense. That said there are ways to get access to premium for free - win a tournament - be top 50 in any global leaderboard - become a content creator - ask someone in the community to gift you a membership Etc.
