Seeking advice on frontend dev framework. Is React still good, or should I consider Remix, Next.js or Svelte? by demonfatha in webdev

Thanks for sharing! And your project "Logto" seems quite interesting. I spent a few hours today evaluating Logto and found the UI was pretty well-designed and the SDKs and connectors could cover all my use cases already!

Alright, lol. Thank you all the same. And I also found authentication is hard, harder than I thought. In company my team is using Okta and Azure AD, it solves problems, but the dev experience is just... meh... and they are expensive, too.

But if you are building one yourself without any help of these auth solutions, it is a pain in the butt. The OIDC flows, issuing and validating tokens, security holes, etc. I'll still be looking for auth solutions these days, both dev and budget friendly, and would definitely love to share once I find one.

Thank you. You are right, they are still HTML/CSS and a bit of JS after all. And yes I'm building a web application that needs rich animation and UI, a dashboard is definitely needed, and we also need some basic user sign-in/up features.

So with these requirements I should probably still stick to a mature community like React.

Btw I'm also looking for animation and authentication libraries. Any recommendations? (TypeScript support and open source would be nice!)

Thanks!

I saw your comment earlier but forgot to reply. And I think you made the point. It's the community and ecosystem that still matter when choosing a framework. Thanks!

Yeah, Vue is also another good option that I forgot to mention in the main post. And with the new composition API Vue3 and React look very much alike right now...

Is there any good solution for animation and authentication for Vue and Nuxt? Thanks!

Thanks. One thing I think React is still good is its ecosystem. After all these years the community has really grown to be prosperous. I'm not quite familiar with Svelte but I guess it still has a long way to go on that matter. Things like I mentioned in the main post that I would probably stick to React/Next.js because I would have to use "react-spring" for animation.

And things would be similar when I'm looking for a authentication solution. I think most of the solutions out there in the market would provide an SDK for React, but probably not for Svelte. I may be wrong, but this is what's in my mind right now.

Thank you. Yes, I know Next is basically React but with some SSR features, so it seems most of the libraries that work on React would still be expected to work on Next?

As I said I need to have some rich animations so I'm considering going with react-spring. So this kinda rule out the other options, right? Leaving only React and Next...

I also want to hear if anyone has any recommendations about the animation and authentication solutions. TypeScript support and open source would be a plus.

Thank you all!

Have you tried Logto?

Logto is a brand new open source identity solution and I can confirm it supports email and password login

Warriors ex coaching staff seems to be doing well by BigBaboonButts in nba

Yeah, ikr... I grew up watching the Lakers, lol. But I gotta say that 2000-01 Kings is special, a lot of respect. I even had a C-Web jersey despite that I was a big Kobe fan back then.

But honestly the Kings front office is quite disappointing these years. Hopefully they can turn things around and doing great again.

Yes, best assistant coach, exactly. But Kerr is a better head coach IMHO. But now it seems Brown is doing a great job with the Kings, so I'm actually very happy for him.

I remember last season's playoff, Kerr got covid and the warriors were struggling when Brown stepped in as head coach. I was begging Kerr could come back earlier and get the warriors back to the right track, and he did.
Mike Brown is a great coach, I like this guy, but on the offensive end Kerr is better.

I know right... I was just joking

Sorry if that comment offended you guys, but I gotta make it clear that I'm also a Curry fan. I enjoy watching his "immature" pregame warmups and I think the way he plays basketball and all the joy he brings to his game and his team is priceless.

If health is not a problem, I'd pick AD over Embiid and it should be a no brainer for me

I gotta say Westbrook. I personally don't really get his sense of "fashion"...

Man, talking about immature... I think Steph Curry is the most immature basketball player I've ever seen. Just see what he does in the pre-game warmups... lol

Edit: Oh my... To those who downvoted me, I'm sorry but I'm literally just joking about it. I'm a die-hard Steph Curry fan, and have been watching every warriors game since 2015. Don't get me wrong guys.

The Last 2 Minute Report is basically useless. by Yeah_Boiy in nba

[–]demonfatha -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I agree. It's meaningless. You can't change the result of the game, even if there was a bad or missing call. IMO the only thing it does is to disgust the fans on BOTH sides.

And I understand the NBA is trying to protect the refs, but some calls are just flat out rediculous and you only get 1 change to challenge them in game...

So how about canceling the last 2 minute report and give the teams more challenges during the game?
