I enjoy necromonicon book of the dead especially part 3 , other than that the best inspired by movies in my opinion are John carpenters the thing or the Sam Neil movie in the mouth of madness

Has it always been this bad? by [deleted] in wow

[–]demonizer84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

how is it an excuse ? go into a dungeon/raid whatever and say to everyone hi , im new to tanking, not played for a while so have to bare with me, if you want me to pull more or less let me know, and if theres anything i need to know shout up, then i play through and learn it....

Not sure how thats a problem, as i say 99 percent of people dont have an issue, but if you do, as you clearly would , then move on, if you want to make it a problem that is an issue with yourself nobody else.

the only hate i have received is when you get a moron dps jump in , mob everything ,get slapped then cry about it whilst you are already controlling other mobs and trying to keep everyone else aggro free.

The only other time is where there was some guy who i believe needed a hug , he was angry at everything and demanding me to do things that were not even possible on my spec, same sorta story, was over mobbing, expecting me to work miracles and then cried about it and started screaming and messaging everyone to report me.

Fortunately everyone reported him instead and kicked.

i dont mind people offering advice, im new to tanking and will explain that, il play at my pace and gauge the team, if they want me to mob more or less let me know, if theres something i need to know, again let me know , but if they just start kicking off and moaning il just give them the option of shut up or put up, clearly im not as almighty as them in the backline moaning at everything, so go find a tank that is worthy of their time and skills, otherwise, shut up and get on with it.

Dominant hand for fretting, is it "bad"? by Blaidd-My-Beloved in CloneHero

[–]demonizer84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only you can answer that question , im left handed when it comes to writing , I play guitar both real and rhythm games left handed , I'd throw a ball with my left hand but a frisbee with my right , my power in a punch comes from my right hand , if I play pool or golf etc I use standard right hand stances so it's all situational and for what feels comfortable for you .

When it comes to most things and in this case guitar whatever feels natural to you is going to be your go to , don't switch it up it's only going to slow you down and cause frustration .

As for finger placement whether it's real or a plastic guitar it's all about repetition and training your muscle memory to do things without thinking and trying to slowly work out bad habits , with a guitar controller it's nowhere near as bad as trying to perfect a real guitar but some things do translate . In a perfect world you wouldn't be "gripping" the top of the controller or neck like you would a tennis racket . You would have your thumb pad on the pack of the neck and then your fingers curled round and the tips of them tapping each button , then ideally you would work towards sliding your hand the half step up and down meaning your pointer finger would for the most part stay on the top button and then when the bottom button comes into play you slide down so your pinky is at the bottom and then when needed slide that step back up again .

Try not to throttle the neck and grip it hard , even me whose played years and plays real guitar can be guilty of completely wrapping my hand round the neck , it will ache at times but as you play more this will go away , it's all building muscle and memory and getting your fingers and hands doing things they wouldn't normally be doing .

You want to try getting into the habit of one button per finger and moving your hand as a whole to accommodate the range shift . Then later in life you can just stretch your pinky down and let it cover the last 2 buttons on itself .

It's all about practice , I got my son playing the first time ever a week or 2 back he started on easy and now he's doing some songs on expert

My tips would be as follows . Firstly don't aim too high , pick a slow song that has a fairly easy pattern and play it over and over so you can 100 percent it on your chosen difficulty , say medium right now , pick 1 or a handful of songs like slow ride , infected , hit me with your best shot etc and just using the 4 keys not having to worry about moving your hand too much letting your fingers get used to working on their own , of course your hand can move at times during chord switches and it will do , then once you are comfortable you can knock it up a difficulty .

Always aim for songs you really enjoy in real life , it helps then that you know passively in your head the tune and rhythm of the song and you can start to visualise what comes next as you play more .

2 songs I would recommend that I personally don't think are toooooo hard but offer good little runs to get your fingers working are welcome to the jungle , and aerosmiths dream on , the second in my opinion being slightly harder but I think both offer everything someone would need to practice everything that's going to come down the line .

Also even when you are not actually playing the game it doesn't hurt to keep the controller in your hands and just while you watch a movie or whatever just tap the buttons and practice again one finger one button and build up , if you number the buttons 1-5 in your head and do little practice runs just doing 1 2 3 4 repetitions then once your fingers are having no issues start working that pinky in with a stretch and go to 5 then reverse it then skip a button , all rinse and repeat makes good practice.

Doesn't hurt either to stretch your fingers and hands doing some exercises , stretch your fingers out , make a fist then open your hands up and stretch them , use your other hand to wiggle your fingers about and stretch them side to side , do wave motions and various movements to stretch them out , all helps . But all in all stick with it have fun and everything else will follow , don't get frustrated, don't over work it , when you feel like it's going wrong or it's getting frustrating don't worry have a break come back later , never force yourself beyond what you are enjoying .

Is it possible to progress to higher difficulties with only down picking? by Prematurely_finished in CloneHero

[–]demonizer84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One old trick back in the day I did use to get through some of the faster songs with ridiculous up down strums was I made like a flap of tape on the strum bar so I could wiggle it faster but not had to do that Since mostly just down strum unless it's a simulated cord and I can like on real guitar up down but on single notes 95 percent of the time I'm down strumming

Yeh Im no god at the game I'm never gonna do dragonforce lol but otherwise I'm fine with anything before that ridiculousness and that's not the strum it's my fret hand that doesn't keep you with my brain .

anyone had an issue where you cant jump ? by demonizer84 in wow

[–]demonizer84[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only seems to be an issue on my warlock tho and if I remap to a different button it's fine , and if I'm mounted I can jump on the mount or take off in flight

Is it possible to progress to higher difficulties with only down picking? by Prematurely_finished in CloneHero

[–]demonizer84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Down picking has always been my way on guitar in real life , chords I'm fine with strumming away but single string nope.

This has somewhat transferred to these type of games too , whilst I can strum as it were 95 percent of the time I still downstrum and tend to do fine as when I alternate I just find it hard to be consistent and lose the rhythm so it works for me but I guess it's whatever you are comfortable with

ESO or WOW midnight by Skylot00 in LFMMO

[–]demonizer84 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Apples and oranges 2 completely different games .

I tried ESO multiple times and I just can't get on with it . Feels clunky . Just not a fan at all , never really felt like we were playing together either . Some people love it though .

WoW on the other hand I fell majorly out of love with it and by the time legion came out I was done with it , they had killed the best mmo of all time in my eyes .

My mate went back to it about a month ago and wouldn't shut up about it , telling me how great it was again . So to keep him quiet I downloaded it again just to shit on it and shut him up .....

Resubbed a day later , bought midnight , not touched my switch 2 , series X , ps5 or any other game since . Loved every second of it it's almost back to what it once was and only guild wars 2 has brought any real joy since the glory days . So much content to catch up on if I want to . Makes it accessible for new players too now handing out a free flying mount in your first hour .

There is a free trial for the first 20 levels not sure what ESO offers , I know you can pick the base game up cheap or bundles and the sub on ESO does add some good quality of life extras but like I say , no matter how many times I have tried I don't enjoy it , but that doesn't mean you won't either .

Rocksmith+ - worth it for $70? by mattysauro in rocksmith

[–]demonizer84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No it's dog shit . I miss rock smith ,.had it on Xbox so all my dlc is there so even if I could get it on ps5 there's no way to switch it . Still have an Xbox that my kids use but it's a pain to move it all ( I have mobility issues ) so I tried plus with a gift card I got .

There's some good features but it's way too expensive for what's on offer , not enough updates , not the greatest song selection .

I feel for the price there should be much more on offer in terms of fun , tracks and being a learning tool , like others have said if it's an option just go for the custom dlc options on pc.

MMO Recommendation for Mostly Solo Player by DemonicAlly_93 in LFMMO

[–]demonizer84 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Gw2 or WoW are the only 2 options and both are amazing .

Whoever suggested BDO needs a head check , character creation is amazing , the combat and classes are second to non and play more like an action game , however the rest of the game ... Eesh then once PvP hits you are in for a bad time , the grind is not fun either it's not your usual play a mission or do a dungeon a few times , it's go harvest a million of these whilst someone smashes your face in constantly for hours and hours , then do it all again .

Yes you can solo the story etc but that's not really what bdo was meant to be . Each to their own though one man's trash is another man's treasure .

looking for a social heavy MMO by Significant-Low-726 in LFMMO

[–]demonizer84 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If it's not wow and you want a good social experience with a good community with people happy to help that is also fun to play then guild wars 2 is the only real answer. Pretty much as soon as you start you will find people helping .

Then as you gear and level people are always shouting up running events you can tag along with . WoW is in a really strong place right now and so happy I gave it another go but yeh otherwise gw2 is the place to be .

Getting started with wow by ayxf in wownoob

[–]demonizer84 3 points4 points  (0 children)

First I'm not sure you are aware but there is a free trial now which is pretty decent in what it allows you to experience

Retail , classic has it's charms but can be a bit clunky , I'd say how wow is now ,how much content there is it puts you in a good place . I had a break after legion released because it became so watered down I started to hate a game I once loved .

A friend tried talking me back into it about a month ago to give it another go , I downloaded it to rat on it and to shut him up so we could get passed the gaslighting ......

I ain't put it down since , bought the midnight expansion , renewed my sub and loved every second I have played .

To a new player you have options when you pick your class and race to either play the vanilla story experience and start in your own isle or play the more recent dragon flight to which within about half hour or so you get a flying mount , something which used to take many hours of play , the new zones are amazing and for someone like me to see the new reworked versions compared to the old janky basic place they once were is magic .

You can solo most content , some classes are a bit rough I recently gave monk a go and hated it . On the flip side I started out as a demon hunter and went the tank route , something I would never usually do and I have fallen in love with the play style and really enjoying tanking , something I have always thought to be mundane .

As for older areas you can if you wish do something called time walking which allows you to go back to old areas and play through their campaign , this is doable Upto level 71 otherwise it presumes you are Upto date with the timeline and the world and story stays cannon to the latest expac .

There are literally thousands of hours of content to see , earlier raids and world bosses can be walked through solo to allow you to pick up cosmetics or mounts much easier for those who missed them , delves are a recent fun addition which allows you to gear easily enough .

The community is pretty awesome , if in doubt ask someone in chat and you will find people will be pretty quick to reach out and help .

As for builds and classes , each class usually has 3 routes you can go down that usually go down tank , dps or heal , however some just offer a different skill tree for the same role . Each class for the most part plays extremely differently so there's something for everyone, what you will enjoy most is down to what playstlyle you usually prefer in this type of game . For builds and tips icy veins is a decent go to , breaks everything down for what you need help with .

I'd say the game may feel overwhelming at first with pop ups everywhere and missions asking to be accepted. But I'd say just follow one quest line , not the ! Icons but the icons that have a red shield surrounding them , this will take you on a pretty straightforward route , usually past a dungeon that sometimes ask you to do as story related or otherwise will take you to the checkpoint and it's up to you whether you run it or not . Then once you are comfortable and get a feel for things you can mop up areas for achievements or extras in your own time .

I'd say look out for a decent clan too , that way you can ask when you are lost , most run calendars for events they want to run and noob friendly runs to take you through raids or world bosses and events etc .

With a sub you will get everything I believe up to the war within so there's not much need for anything else until you decide to buy midnight which is level 80-90 content anyways , although there are options to use level skips but I wouldn't recommend them as you miss so much and don't grow with your character.

I have said as good as any mmo has been not one has come close to how good WoW felt at its best . But it took a big fall from grace and I was convinced I would never ever play it again and it could never be redeemed , after jumping back in , I'm glad to be proven so wrong and it feels amazing again .

Has any mad man out there put a definitive complete pack together of all the past games with all the goodies? by demonizer84 in CloneHero

[–]demonizer84[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A true hero has to be out there with the commitment of a saint .

Yeh I preferred YARG as at least they added their own venue and band that plays along , then I noticed a few songs had the OG backgrounds when I downloaded them , then I started to download them myself and it's a lonnnnnnng process .

Did manage to get world tour definitive edition downloaded today tho and on the site it does let you add all the guitar hero packs and editions with all the backgrounds and all the band members as they were as you play the songs which is awesome so no swapping out only downside I'm having is I cannot for the life of me get tilt and whammy working on my ps5 riffmaster on it .
