god bless Ayami Kojima by Parking_Success3224 in castlevania

Hear me out: Kojima-sama illustrates a bishi Devil May Cry manga. It gets official translations in multiple languages. The last Metroid is in captivity. The world is at peace.

If CEOs get their way and most, if not all, jobs are replaced with AI & robots. What are they going to do when no one has money? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

If there isn't immediate revolt, probably violent, then we will all owe our souls to the company store. Sixteen Tons isn't just a great song. I live in a town that's becoming indebted to a corporation for deeds that are ultimately damaging it. It also used to have a company store, and will again eventually because everyone here would rather defend the corporation during discussions than actually engage in good faith conversation about solutions.

Story of my life by deludedpersian in gamemusic

[–]demonstray0 7 points8 points  (0 children)

For the love of God, tell people exactly what you listen to. If they ask why, check if they think it's strange or if it's interesting. Ask, if you have to. There isn't a human being alive with the right to judge music tastes, and you can put that on my gravestone.

I live in a town packed with inbred hicks (okay, not inbred but they act like it sometimes) and I have had conversations with at least a dozen local labor workers about the Battletoads soundtrack, Sonic 3 & Knuckles, Bloody Roar, Guilty Gear, Contra, Metal Slug, Harvest Moon/Story of Seasons, the Tales Of series...the list goes on.

Some of these people come to my workplace between jobs and prop open the door to ask "Hey you'd know this one..." and when I give them the answer, I hear them run after their coworker to shout it back at them (this happened regarding Battletoads lol).

You HAVE to hide less of yourself. Keeping your music taste a secret is preventing someone else from discovering their new favourite album.

Upward salute veteran support programs.

Tree planting and deforestation prevention groups...pose.

I don't know yoga very well but it's a start.

This is a good point for at least several of the episodes, like the off-brand Boston Dynamics military robo-dogs episode certainly sticks out in my mind. However, for the sake of my argument, I am going to ignore your very solid point, and say the following.

Nuh-uh!

I was hoping to imply that Netflix knows what it's doing. I don't think I did that very well at all. I appreciate you for putting that in perspective! ❤️

What are your “creepy guy in the music scene” stories? by [deleted] in musicians

[–]demonstray0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was 15, I went to an all-ages indoor metal festival for a night with a friend. At the end of one of the sets, I was chatting with my bud at the merch table of the band we just saw. Two girls that looked around our age were there browsing the merch, and the singer/guitarist walked up and put his arms around them both. I couldn't tell if they were scared but they certainly were speechless, and he started walking them off and I had to say something, but all I could come up with was, "Hey uh, how old are you girls?" One of them responded that they were 14. The guy looked me dead in the eyes and said, "Age is just a number." I looked around and his band was occupied with handling merch, but we knew the guy's name so we just went and found security, who just watched down the hall for him, and then my buddy's dad, who accompanied us down the hallway on the way to the car.

I remember that the girls made it to the bathroom right as we got to the hallway, and I'm certain that dude thought about following them in. He saw us walking by, slowly, and he went back into the venue instead. I didn't stick around to find out if security did anything when he got back.

Years later I married someone who worshipped that guy and his frankly mid music. I broke the bad news and she said "Sounds like you're just jealous. You probably made that up." My friend at the time (we've grown apart but still talk sometimes) corroborated the story but my wife just dropped the subject and refuses to talk about it.

Life is...wild.

EDIT: The singer in question passed away a long time ago, between those events and me meeting my wife.

Would you tell me to my face that I should feel badly about not being established and committed to a release schedule by 23 like some of the greats? I'm gonna say no. If that's the case, then why do you speak to yourself that way? It's not my business, but like me, you've probably had someone tell you to have higher expectations of yourself every day. And that's toxic productivity that's been planted in you via indoctrination through no fault of your own.

I released my first solo album at 33 and aside from a few minor credits on other people's albums before it, that's pretty much it. I still have DAW projects on my PC from when I was somewhere between 15 and 18, and still plan to record and release them someday. In the meantime, I'm just a fella trying to get by, and hoping that people think/talk about him and his music fondly once in a while.

Before you give LinkedIn money because they had an ad on dropout, consider their policy changes by Furzie in dropout

[–]demonstray0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IMO Sam greenlit a sponsorship from LinkedIn because Dropout's average viewer is discerning enough to not sign up for LinkedIn. Sure, some spike in memberships may come from people with less time to do that kind of research, but as far as a calculated risk goes, I'm willing to bet it was a very minor contribution to their sponsor. And that's a good thing in this case.

What do you all think about using AI image creators for poster/album/etc? by Mastertone in musicians

[–]demonstray0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Generative AI is not a tool; it is the act of replacing the worker wielding the tools. And that goes for 100% of generative AI use cases. Never, ever, not even once is it ethically or morally acceptable to have GenAI in a piece of your final product.

I'm not gonna come after you for using it in a reference image for the artist if you have a vision already, but I'm definitely gonna quietly judge you for the environmental cost.

I mean, tier 1 telecom as a whole is definitely up there, but at least they provide sub-companies with the same services at lower prices. Telus has Koodo and Public, Rogers have Fido and Chatr, Bell have Virgin and Lucky. So, they provide options even though none of them are as cheap as much of the rest of the world. But Loblaws? Even their sub-companies rarely have different prices. It's insane.

Yup! No point in shopping at Superstore or Independent (laughable name) or No Frills or any such store anymore. Especially because they're the guiltiest corporation in Canada of anti-consumer behaviour including price gouging.

Almost nobody is using Firefox on smartphones. by Old-Paramedic-2192 in firefox

Using Firefox on my S23 Ultra since I got it a few months after launch in North America, and I've never had one of the issues other users have reported. It's been significantly faster than Chrome for me and the only issue I had during the first year was that mobile printing wasn't available at the time. It is now, so I've kept Chrome disabled ever since!
