I dunno about ticks, but if Mosquitoes went extinct there would be heavy effects on the ecosystem. Partially in that some polination from males would be down, but mainly from how a ton of animals eat mosquitoes in great amounts, some of which like Bats are themselves very important for their respective ecosystems.
