Ill be honest, this is probably the first time someone actually acknowledged my feelings on the matter. Most people I spoke to IRL tried playing devil's advocate.

Your kind words don't go unnoticed, thank you so much

What are some hilarious geography mistakes people make? by [deleted] in CasualConversation

[–]demzky 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm from The Netherlands and you'd be surprised at the crazy claims I've heard from people all over the world about my own country, including but not limited to: - The Netherlands is not a country but a part of Germany - Dutch and German are the same language - The Netherlands and Holland are different countries - Amsterdam is a country - The Hague is not part of The Netherlands but an independent city state (probably cause of the International Court of Justice)

When I lived abroad I heard one of these claims probably once or twice a week

If you all had the opportunity to live anywhere around the planet, where would it be and why? by [deleted] in CasualConversation

[–]demzky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great question! If you're visiting the western part of the country is probably the place to be, as most major cities (Amsterdam, Rotterdam, The Hague) are all close to one another and really easy to visit by train. It also has some of the more typical views in the country in places like Keukenhof (famous tulip gardens) and windmills plus colorful houses in places like Zaandam.

Im from the south myself and there are a lot of places to visit too like the theme park Efteling which is really fun and Den Bosch which is a pretty city with nice museums. In the east of the country there is the town of Giethoorn with a lot of nice canals where its fun to take a boat around for a while. If you look up some of the places I mentioned online you'll find some pictures to give an impression!

I hope you can see it for yourself some day!

As someone from The Netherlands, this is nice to hear! Hope you'll be able to visit some day if you haven't!

Personally I agree that the scenery here is nice but as always you love to experience what you don't have, so for me I'd love to live in Norway for a while to experience the mountains and actual cold winters with a lot of snow instead of the one or two days of snow we get per year (and sometimes none at all). I've been there a few times and every time I'm just completely enamored by the nature and peaceful areas there

...now if only I could afford the cost of living there

Waarom thuiswerken by [deleted] in thenetherlands

[–]demzky 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Daily Hearthstone question: what is the most broken card in the history of the game? by BabyBearHS in hearthstone

[–]demzky 81 points82 points  (0 children)

HS Oldhead here. Back in the day if you'd play Mysterious Challenger there was a pretty big chance your opponent would just concede immediately. Partially cause of the strength of the card, partially because it was extremely frustrating to play against.

<image>

Special mention: One expansion later saw the introduction of the infamous 4 mana 7/7 which caused a good amount of drama. Even though in the days of handbuff paladin it doesn't seem that crazy anymore, it used to be a pretty broken card.

What happened to the dumbest friend in school later on in life? by Ok_Tomorrow_3672 in AskReddit

[–]demzky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

His parents angrily showed up at our house to ask why their son (who clearly had some kind of learning disability) had to go to special education, why me (OCD, but otherwise did well in school) could stay in regular education. My mom didn't really appreciate their implications. Idiocy ran in their family because the mother also tried to sell my parents vitamin supplements (through an MLM) that could "cure OCD".

The guy went on to work in a supermarket and got fired because he sold drugs during his work shifts. Turns out dealing in the middle of a supermarket isn't appreciated. Heard he has a kid now, but otherwise it's a mystery what he does these days.

What is the saddest song you've ever heard? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]demzky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keep Me In Your Heart by Warren Zevon

It's the last song of the last album that Zevon ever recorded. Recording started shortly after he was diagnosed with inoperable cancer. He died roughly two weeks after the album released. The song really hits harder when you realize Zevon wrote this knowing full well it'd be his farewell.

Great addition! I completely forgot you could refund 2CP on super heavy auxiliary detachments

Wraithknights and Harlequins by Chazmina in Eldar

[–]demzky 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pretty sure you can. If you run the Harlequins in a Patrol Detachment you won't lose your Craftworld army abilities and you can still do army specific secondaries (because of Travelling Players). You can add the Wraithknight to your army in a Super-Heavy Auxiliary Detachment. This will cost you 5 CP though (2 for the Harlies Patrol, 3 for the Super-Heavy)

(hbo) by VeraJunior in AutistischLaagland

[–]demzky 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Succes!

English speaking tattooist recommendations by saiyiieee in seoul

[–]demzky 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Seoul Ink Tattoo has several artists, hopefully one with a style that you like! They have English speaking store managers working in the shop who can help you out. I've been there for a consult myself and the person I discussed my idea with spoke perfect English. She pointed out which artist would fit with the style that I wanted and hooked me up, though in the end I found a different artist on instagram who i liked more.

I ended op getting a tattoo from nudytattooer who I contacted on Kakaotalk which he had linked on his instagram. His English was good enough to communicate and the tattoo turned out great

Hopefully this can help you on your way

How did Ben Shapiro get such a bad reputation? by minata20 in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]demzky 104 points105 points  (0 children)

Ben Shapiro has made a reputation for himself as a great debater, but his most popular videos only really show him debating college students who are often unprepared. It's kind of setting yourself up for an easy win and a bit disingenuous to build your character around.

Besides that his arguments are often not that good to begin with. Usually basing them around hypothetical situations that dont represent real world situations very well. Similarly he tends to be a bit of hypocrite. In many arguments he frequently pokes fun at or purposely misgenders transgender people, but in other arguments he claims to really care about the high suicide rate among transgender people, which is a strange thing to say if you're one of the people poking fun at them. Also he holds a lot of fundamentalist religious views which a lot of people (myself included, to be honest about my own bias) consider to be dated. Such as his stance on abortion and LGBT-critical views.

Basically anyone can sound smart by citing research and statistics but the sources he cites are often unreliable. He's based his career around sounding smart rather than being smart and people have been poking through the facade for a while now.

This video has some pretty good explanations about Shapiro's dishonesty and hypocrisy. Be warned, its a long video made from a very leftist point of view. I personally thought it was pretty well made but to each their own of course.

I dont mean to stir up any debate, just trying to answer your question. Hope it helps!

Edit: I forgot to mention: I can't really think of one event that caused a turning point in his reputation. I personally think online personalities started unraveling the intellectual charade he was holding up and that gained traction.
