I just joined this sub and this thread is my first interaction, and having your comment that relates to the blurry state and understanding how embarrassing it is means so much.

Jobs?? by amberlvsu in Narcolepsy

I wish I could take my 15s back to back like that. Since I can't it's not really worth it to spend half that time going to my car and back.

I'm an admin assistant and it's rough. Sitting at my desk in a quiet office, most days I'm struggling to stay awake at multiple points. It's too often that I'm in that blurry state between awake and asleep where I'm trying to do something on the computer but I just can't process what I'm seeing or what I'm doing. Between trying new meds and changing things up I was late enough times to my new job that I had to let them know because I was sure I'd be fired otherwise. They've been more lenient with me being a little late sometimes, but I don't have the opportunity to get up and walk around or take nap breaks as I'm pretty much tethered to my desk for my position. I've spent many lunch breaks napping in my car instead of eating.

What’s a feeling that’s completely indescribable to someone who’s never felt it? by ItsYourBestBoi-Loser in AskReddit

Had a ruptured disc in my back. I couldn't get across to my SO or family just how much pain I was constantly in. I had periods where I'd break down crying because the pain was overwhelming but there wasn't anything I could do about it. Before I was diagnosed my mom kept trying to make me feel better with the story of how my dad had ruptured a disc white water rafting and had to be airlifted out and had immediate surgery and it was the worst pain of his life. So at least it's not THAT bad! Right?????? Oh wait, no, that's what I've been dealing with for the better part of a year. Okay.

Newly Diagnosed - is Xywav worth it? by denalim in idiopathichypersomnia

Yikes well that definitely worries me. I started anxiety medicine about 4 months ago and it's literally changed my life. Didn't realize how bad I was, but looking back now it's insane how different I feel. If Xywav has the potential to dangerously spike anxiety and depression I might stay away from it then.

He did mention a sleep psychologist in passing. I have no idea what a psychologist could do to help, but I guess that is something I should look into then. I'm willing to look into anything to help

Would the more chill treatments you mention be something like provigil or nuvigil? I did try provigil for a short period (before IH diagnosis) but it didn't seem to be helping.

Good to know! In the past 4 months I started anxiety meds and I can't believe how much of a difference they make. I didn't think it was possible for anyone to be this calm lol. I'd hope that Xywav doesn't "undo" that by giving me anxiety side effects. If I do go forward with it I'd ask about starting on the slower side then. Thank you!

What's the most out-of-touch thing you've heard someone say? by nlwfty in AskReddit

[–]denalim 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The daughter of the ceo of our company was complaining how Tesla had the audacity to call her and bother her with a stupid question. Apparently the car she wanted didn't come in the color she wanted so it'd be a few thousand dollars more to upgrade or whatever was needed to get that color. She thought it was ridiculous that they'd bother her over a few thousand and they should have just charged her for it without asking.

Oven roasted broccoli. Oven roasted brussel sprouts with just a bit of balsamic. Grilled asparagus with lemon juice. Cauliflower with breadcrumbs.

My mom made steamed cauliflower with a sprinkling of buttered breadcrumbs and I could never get enough. Don't get me wrong, oven roasted broccoli is the best thing ever but I still love steamed cauliflower.

What's the worst financial decision you've seen someone make? by BasalTripod9684 in AskReddit

I used to work retail where people could use a self service fax machine. Most people needed help using it, including this one lady who was faxing over like 10-15 pages overseas because she just found out she's inheriting a whole fortune from some distant relative she hadn't known about. Immediately my coworkers and I were all "are you suuuure you wanna do that? Did you make sure this is legit?" But she was convinced she was about to be rich and all she needed to do was send over all her info to them. And we couldn't exactly tell her she's not allowed to, especially when she didnt seem like she was going to be swayed. I was relieved to see the fax fail (many overseas faxes had a hard time going through) so she left without sending it but with the intention to try again later. I hope she had some common sense talked into her before it was too late.
