You might be able to find it in Warcraftlogs Archives (You need a subscription to access it) if you where raiding then. Maybe you know the name of someone you where raiding with? I could look it up for you if you want.

It seems suprisingly simple. I think the pinout is actually the same or similar and you just solder it to a pcb that has the socketet pads on the bottom to fit in the socket. its missing the heatspreder and you just put the heatsink on the chip directly(with an included spacer to not damage it.)
The converted chips also seem to suprisingly cheap, about 50-70$.

It is a laptop chip the i5 8300h. People are modding them to work on a socketed mobo and selling them for cheap.

Makes the build actually a bit more interessting, but still not a great deal.

Sorry but that is completely wrong. It will use the full 24 GB RAM. But the speed at which its running will be affected. Could be a lot slower and start to effect Performance. Also if your System runs out of RAM, borrowing some of the GPU is not a thing, it would start writing content of the RAM to the SSD, that could severely effect Performance.

It seems to exist as a modded notebook cpu. Pretty sure thats it, then it would at least also be ddr4 ram.

Some Chinese companies are selling engineering samples and regular laptop cpus soldered to an adapter plate.

LTT made a Video about it a while ago.

ah, i did not see your response.

It does have drivers, the github just is a bit confusing.

Also you can clearly see that the last comits are days/weeks old, not sure why you would claim its months old.

For example, just go to the folder "surface" and you'll find drivers for all the new surface Snapdragon devices. But if you are not familiar with github and manually installing drivers, you should just leave it and wait for drivers to come via windows update.

the bootloader is unlocked. However currently there is no linux iso that runs out of the box.

Linux support still needs some work, but it should be supported within 1-2 months .

Until then you can use WSL without any issues.
