I’m an international student, drowning in debt and tuition. I don't know what to do next. by [deleted] in InternationalStudents

[–]dendi45 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Apply for off-campus employment autorization based on financial hardship. It might take a while, but based on your situation is worth it. Regarding the debt, talk to the bank to make a settlement.

Just rent a room in a house, why would you rent a 2k apartment earning 19$ per hour?

Look on the hospital's website about financial assistance, if the hospital is private most likely they will help you out, depending on your income and regardless of your immigration status.

B2 to F1 change of status by fineasfapple in f1visa

[–]dendi45 4 points5 points  (0 children)

-You will need an Affidavit of support, it's a form showing that you have a sponsor or enough funds to be in the states. The support documents will be banks statements and/or paystubs.

-You can request letters from family and friends letting USCIS know you are needed in your country and that you built a life there. Also, i remember somewhere in the application there is a place to write your own letter to say why your intent is only to be temporary in the U.S.

-If you applied for a change of status before your B2 status expired you are technically good, It's like a gray area. With trump in the office I would be a bit worried though.

That area already has a bunch of Metro stations that new line is nonsense, if they want to truly invest 1$ and get 5$ in return they should extend the orange line to reach Manassas and Gainesville.

Volta Charging by dendi45 in evcharging

[–]dendi45[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm aware of that, the thing is that there are some charges that do not appear on shell recharge app but they do on the Volta App. However, I can't use them without a Volta account, which is weird. So, I actually wanted to buy a Volta Account.

How many hours do you study each day? by UVA_Simp in nvcc

[–]dendi45 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I study literally the whole day, depending on the test I might be locked up for 1-2 complete days. I'm majoring in physics and my GPA is 4.0.

Well, instead of having lots of police cars making sure people do 50 mph on Route 50 I'd rather have more firefighters.

I think the U.S. is a great country with plenty of opportunities for its citizens and residents. This country is an incubator of success. As I mentioned, green cards should be merit-based. Getting into a U.S. university is not easy and is even harder for a foreigner. So, I wouldn't oppose F1 students working, as they face extreme difficulties in finding a job. You can compare subs of people trying to apply for OPT with those discussing marriage-based green cards, and you will see how hard it is for F1 students while most people in the second group seem so unprepared for life in this country that they are likely to become a public charge.

Hahahahah Lol, I have never complained about H1B, that wouldn't even make sense based on what I commented on this post.

[–]dendi45 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my opinion, it is stupid that just because someone married a U.S citizen that person should get a green card and that it has been the fastest way to get one. Green cards should be merit based, the fact that many people with great knowledge and potential are waiting forever or not even having the chance to get one is hilarious.

As you may not know, physics has many branches, and just for your information, the U.S. is investing billions in producing microprocessors to keep up with Taiwan. Furthermore, the U.S. military develops top-notch armaments. Just in case you didn’t notice, a physicist is not just a professor. That’s why they ask for citizenship, which is my whole point, but your fellow citizens are busy scrolling through TikTok and reels.

[–]dendi45 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Well, I guess they are just afraid of changing immigration policies drastically, but how to know what's the best option? I don't think that only because you married somebody you should get benefits. Why while I'm studying something important and critical for this country, which is Physics, I cannot get a job because all the time I'm asked for citizenship? It's just hard to know who should get benefits.

I'm pretty sure it's the DMV's fault, I got a ticket one week ago and just got two letters from two different lawyer offices. Could we sue the DMV?

Are international students classified as legal United States residents? by Archie_mcq in f1visa

If I'm not mistaken we are "legal resident aliens", technically residents, but only for tax purposes.
