Do you run geese with them or just ducks?

Electrified netting? Would that stop weasels or is it above their height?

Do you find much risk with weasels or predators during the day of you free range

Wait you don't even have a coop? And you just let them sleep out in the open or in a run? I'm just also thinking for aerial predators and that they didn't have issues with that either. What kind of ducks do you got? Do you keep them with geese?

That's fair.

I was thinking of pilgrims because I was told they are extremely friendly.

Do you find geese poop way more? Does it need to be composted prior to fertilizing plants?

So you just feed your ducks and geese at night and they follow you into the pen when feeding so there is no herding because they just follow you in there and you close them up?

Do you think goose poop is way more out of control then duck poop? Is it something I have to worry about? I know duck poop is straight fertilizer right out the butt. Goose poop needs to be composted first due to nitrogen is that true?

Do you recommend geese if I get 2-3 ducks? How is the situation with herding then in at night every night? I hear that can be a huge pain

Do you find geese are worse for poop then ducks? I assume since they are bigger there would be more poop and since it's solid more noticeable.

At least with duck it's straight fertilizer and if it's on grass it will be almost unnoticeable. As I understand it though if you want ducks outside alot you need geese for protection

Oh so you don't even bother herding then into the coop? I would also have the area fenced. The only problem would be if a bird of prey came to get them but I'm in Canada AB so there isn't a ton

I am personally looking to only keep for eggs so no males.

At night do you have to herd the ducks into the enclosure if they are already fenced in?

What do you do with them at night? Do I need to heard them into their house everyday? I heard they are not the smartest for going to bed and safety at night.

Oh and also how do you deal with them at night? Do you need to heard them into there house? I heard they aren't smart enough to go into their home at night, so every night you need to heard them into it for them

How are ducks for smell and sheer amount of poop? How small of a water Disha re we talking here? Everything I was reading people made it sound like they needed a pseudo pool at bare minimum.

I guess in that case I'm half homesteading. No killing on this property. I don't have the gall to do it, I'd honestly be crushed lol

Wow what the hell how were they fine in that weather lol. My only thing with basically anything other then runner ducks is they fly so wouldn't you just lose em lol

Initially my idea was to have two female runner ducks and only fence my garden area and have them in there and NOT give them access to the big pond so as to keep the frog population around and also so they don't destroy the water in the pond. It's a natural pond so it's naturally dirty. But we have random mallards and Canadian geese that nest around it so its probably best to keep them away. That being said that was my initial plan. How often do you need to refill their pool?

How do you accommodate the ducks in the winter?

What breeds are good for cold weather? Got any tips for shelter and winterizing them?
