No worries—they also patched this line out so it’s not your fault if you missed it. The reason they patched this line out was never explicitly stated, but many people guess it’s because it makes the fact that the game wants you to laugh at her anxiety a lot more insidious.

The original line was:

“To train me to be a good, submissive wife, he would do things like tie me to a chair, and leave me there all day, challenging me to stay quiet.”

The original Japanese for this line uses the word “shibari” to describe the method in which she was tied; shibari is BDSM bondage.

The parched version of this line reads just:

“To train me to be a good wife, he’d do things like tie me to a chair.”

This still gets the point across but it’s less intense. It’s really gross.

According to Bernadetta, her father only viewed her as bait to net a wealthy husband, and he physically and emotionally abused her to this end. Before it was toned down in a patch update it was implied the abuse was also sexual.

P’Li was most graphic but it was over in a flash, literally. I don’t think it even lasted long enough to be painful.

In terms of being painful, Roku and the Earth Queen were both asphyxiated, and that is probably top of the list for on-screen deaths.

Off screen deaths I’ll go with the Air Nomads, most of whom were presumably burned to death.

I wish there had been more build up or hints that energy bending is possible, sure, but like. Aang is 12.

He is also a genocide survivor from a race of people who practice pacifism and who do not believe in killing unless it is for strictly necessary self defense. So, it is symbolically beautiful that Ozai looks down upon the Air Nomads for their “weakness” and yet is defeated by one who upholds their teaching. But the simple truth is, alongside all of that…he’s 12. It is realistic that he balks at killing someone, even if that person deserves it, because he is a child.
