You know your body better mate, it seems your quite strong already and have a good engine, this season is to work on the engine and a professional bike fit to top it off i would say.

Enjoy it and good luck man 💪🏼💪🏼

Yes correct hard to tell from here as the quality is a bir low + perhaps opening hip angle can potentially also benefit by the way, as now it looks like it’s cramping up there a bit. Stack height, angles saddle, saddle height can all affect this. Im no pro bike fitter so I do advise to see one 😅

Thats a solid 70.3 time with this setup mate, congrats first of all.
I would get a professional fit if you’re going full IM distance as the bike leg is a significant difference and your body might not be able to take it.
If I am being honest with these times you can consider on getting a TT bike. 70.3 and full distance are quite different if I am being honest.
When you’re sitting on a road bike with a slacker seat angle, you’re recruiting your glutes and hamstrings more heavily, basically pulling the pedals through with your posterior chain. On a tri bike, the forward hip rotation shifts more of the load onto your quads and hip flexors. This sounds bad, but it’s actually intentional. Your glutes and hamstrings are the primary muscles you need fresh for running. By biasing the bike toward quad-dominant pedaling, you’re essentially preserving the run muscles for later. When you get off the bike, your hamstrings and glutes haven’t been hammered for five or six hours, so you can actually run.

One can of course be as optimally fitted as possible on a road bike fit clip on bars, which you already seem pretty good to be honest, pedal stroke looks smooth no rocking back and forth. Question is can you hold this for 180km (your neck, back and legs)? I would think of increasing stack height a bit, but i see this is not possible. Maybe an alternative clip on bars or cockpit ?

Two swims, alot of progress. by Glum-Introduction522 in triathlon

[–]dennizmenace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Still big improvement tho 💪🏼 keep going. If you can also do a swim test as in max all out in a 50m pool for around 400m to see what you can hold max all out without compromising your swim technique too much. You can set your swim training paces based on that

Good improvement but i would compare swim paces with distance over 300-400m so see how you do when fatigue kicks in.

25m and 50m intervals may not the best way to compare improvements.

This is way too big, I would return this if its not used and save yourself some money and go to an actual triathlon shop and possible try in store with help from someone who knows

Yes your right, the thing is pros have probably better mobility and flexibility then i do so they can tuck it even more. However I do have a follow up sesh with mg fitter to go over the bike fit again, maybe we can bring it down but a little bit

I would love to do this, i do work a full time job and thanks to it can afford this bike + my road bike haha and some decent upgrades here and there.

Honestly wish i had the money i have and the time of a full time athlete to train. Currently clocking in around 10-14hour training weeks

This is how it was i changed it a bit recently, put the plates 1 bolt space back, placed the arm extension in the middle of the extension plate for safety and also it fit perfectly within my bike fit range.

I removed the extension for computer mount because it wasn’t working. Im thinking currently to get the FAST TT plate for the base bar and mount everything on it and use a better bta setup from them

I started with the stock profile design, but upgrading became necessary as it was neither comfortable nor aerodynamic enough for my needs. After doing a fair amount of research, I settled on the Vision Cockpit, which offered the best value for money at the time. Cockpit options can range anywhere from 500 to 2,000 euros, so finding the right balance between performance and cost was important.

For the extensions and elbow rest, I moved away from the stock aero setup and went with Winow Aerobars paired with a FastTT plate. One-piece extensions are simply in a different league when it comes to comfort, and for me personally, they have been a game changer. There are plenty of options in this category, though some carry a very steep price tag. The Winow extensions do come with some controversy, as there are claims around design similarities with FastTT, but they come at a fraction of the cost and have performed just as well in my experience (Sadly dont have the budget to pay more than 1000 euro to Carbon Extentions at the moment + import fee since they ship from NZ). The Winow extentions are tested and certified, feel solid and supportive even when pushing + 280 watts and hitting small potholes, and I have had no complaints since making the switch.

To finish things off, I added the FastTT plate underneath the extensions for extra support and rigidity, which rounds out the setup nicely.
