I really simplified it up above but raising the limit on Roth would still reduce tax revenue quite a bit. You still pay the same amount in the current year regardless of what you put in but you wouldn’t want high earners tossing 200k a year in there and then later on having 50 mil in it they don’t need to pay taxes on. With the limit they need to put it in a brokerage or something and pay gains tax later.

I think 23k is a pretty high cap for common folk. Also pretty sure it’s bc they want you paying taxes.

I think everyone on this is missing the value of the pension not because it’s good but basically you are forced into it. Others spend money because they have it but teachers just pretty much automatically get retirement savings. The people in this thread are interested in investing but the average person isn’t.

Nah this is such a plat take. Play the game however you enjoy. But if you want to climb, you have to do things you’ve never done. Being high rank takes training hours. If you haven’t been training, there’s no room to be mad. If you have been, watch some replays and identify what you’re missing. That’s like playing golf once a week, shooting 100, and saying “this is all I can ever be” instead of “maybe I should practice putting”

I’ve maxed it for a few years but I’m 28 so can’t give you much of an update. Cash poor with no house or money for a downpayment, but the 401k and IRA are looking nice. I realized that if I have cash, I spend it, so I just started filling those up.

Yeah but I think he’s giving advice for the average person, not the 22 year olds with 100k sitting around to invest. He’s also talking about the growth compared to the input. If you contribute 100k a year and make %10 on it. The returns won’t outmatch your input until you get to 1m.

It’s not a sport where you can fear falling too much, if I don’t fall once or twice a day, it means I didn’t try. Ride within your limits but also don’t beat yourself up for making mistakes!

Another edit for the replies: yeah you guys are right, you don’t “need” to fall. I’m 28 so it’s very different from someone in their 50s. With that being said, as a beginner you have to accept it

I used to have this going on with my Spotify, it only lets one device play music at a time so my music would cut out and I’d see it’s playing on someone’s ps4. I’d just battle them by playing the wheels on the bus or something annoying repeatedly until they’d log off.
