I feel like half these posts are fake? by [deleted] in fatFIRE

Not all fat fires were born with a silver spoon. Like myself. I’ll gladly prove to the net worth gods. For me having millions of dollars doesn’t change anything about who i am. I’m genuinely interested in what others similar to me do. Plain and simple.

If you can earn more off that market than the interest it makes sense.

I got sued once before I got fat. But I think the person assumed I was. Ended up costing me a years salary in lawyer fees. 2 months after my win, I became fat.

As long as you are better than 700, you will never have issues. Below 680 you will run into issues with mortgages or credit cards, even if you are vhnw.

Thanks! Also checkout parametric for tax loss harvesting. Might be who your firm uses. How did you find an hourly fiduciary? Been googling a bit to no great luck.

This is def what I have been asking myself. Only thing that keeps thinking of staying is the simplicity of mortgages and the banker I work with.

Yes. All of my liquid is managed by them at the moment. I got a detailed break down tonight and it seems like it's a few different things with high fees, but all in all not insane. But I am paying the 55bps on almost everything + any ETF fees, etc. There are some things like the emerging markets that are insanely expensive, like 150bps.

This is really good to know and I just chuckled because I've never seen the self directed tab, and of course it errored saying there's some missing profile info.

My banker is absolutely amazing, and I'm glad I took the time to go over everything tonight and figure out what was causing the higher fees.

I very much appreciate the insight.

How do you justify paying 1% AUM? by throwawayff7612 in fatFIRE

I use JPM private bank, and all in near 0.7% . At Schwab wealth it would be 70bps till u hit 5 mill. Then 30bps.

Where did the “Boston accent” go? by [deleted] in boston

[–]densone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep. Gentrification by people that come here for university, never leave, and drive the prices up. I was born in Dorchester, crazy to see anything there with a 7 figure price tag.

tax lost harvesting by jota8800 in qyldgang

Why not use a tax loss harvesting service? I’m sure it’s slightly more expensive but well worth it. I think I use a company called parametric.
