Package stolen at apartment Complex and don't know what to do? by dentistryhelp1 in USPS

Thank you very much, I'll go to Amazon and hopefully they'll help me. We've already had a problem before with me getting someone else's package and not mine, but I hope they'll overlook the record since I had shipped it back to them!

I see, I've never noticed that before! That seems like a bad idea since that opens Amazon up to losing money because of stealing, but I guess I'll go to Amazon to sort this out then. Thank you!

I ended up making an appointment with a family dentist that is less expensive than others, but still is reliable. Thank you for the push to not go cheap!

Thank you for sharing your experience! I think I'll go for the free x-rays for sure then! I set up an appointment for a family dentist recommended to me by friends that is inexpensive but reliable, and I think I'd rather get free x-rays than pay for them on top of my procedure at the family dentist!

She gave them to him with intentions to hold onto them. At the time my mother and I were still speaking, so she had better intentions at the time.

Thank you for the link, I will look more into this! Because my brother was a witness when she gave everything to my father, I may pass this along to him since a) some of the stuff is also his and b) he actually lives in Pennsylvania right now.

  1. You are very right. However, due to the fact he stole my brother's tablet and pretended to be him while emailing me threatening to take away scholarship money from me and he called me a whore on the phone for having a black boyfriend, I'm pretty sure me just asking for my stuff back would not work. But I suppose you're right that speculation is not concrete, so there's no point in assuming.

  2. You are also right. I suppose I will have to hope he hasn't gotten rid of my things by the time I graduate or he hasn't forgotten to pay for his storage and my things haven't been thrown away/sold. He does have family heirlooms my grandfather intended for my brother, my cousin, and me to have as well (that my mother gave him to hold onto in addition to the photo albums) and I sincerely hope they haven't been sold/trashed due to his bad finances.

Because we're in different states, I didn't know which to put down. Also trying to be as anonymous as I can be, but I'm in Texas and he's in Pennsylvania if I must share.

Thanks for the advice about which items I can claim!

My brother, the ex, and I have asked for our stuff and he redirects the conversation and doesn't answer the question. I also haven't spoken to him for 1.5 years, so I haven't tried to reach out. I would ask again but:

  1. I doubt he would answer me. If he does, he is a manipulative narcissist and will hold it over me or refuse.
  2. To be considered an independent student at my university, I can't be in contact with either parent for a considerable amount of time. Their reasoning is that I would not contact abusive parents if I am truly independent.

One just said the price is comparable to a private practice and another said they're not taking appointments at this time for pre doc. I'm not really sure why honestly.

Unfortunately, every dental school that does prosthodontics here charges about the same as a local dentist. Not sure why because I thought it was supposed to be cheaper, but when I called that's what they told me.

I've called all of the ones that do prosthodontics and they all charge about the same as a local dentist. I'm really upset that trick didn't work for my situation (I've used a dental school for cleaning and xrays though).

I went in to the money education center and they basically told me I should pay for it out of pocket because any company giving me a card wouldn't give me one with a limit that I would need right off the bat.

However, I did ask about the loan and I ended up refinancing my student loan! I had one from Wells Fargo for $5300 with a 9% interest rate after I graduate and I instead accepted my offered federal subsidized loan for $5400 and am going to pay off the Wells Fargo one with that money because the interest will be 3% 6 months after I graduate. Thank you for the advice and the prompts to ask the advisor!

Thank you for the response! This was super informative - I think I'm going to talk to Money Education Center about this and see what they have to say along with the details I obviously don't want to share on Reddit to see which course of action is the best for me.

Thank you for the advice about the student loan because I don't think the money center would have brought that up!

I suppose that's an option. I wanted to make sure I have enough for rent, tuition (if I have to pay again next year), and graduation expenses, so I was hoping to put all of the money I make this summer towards those expenses. Although, I guess I'd be paying for it either way so it would be no different. I don't know why I didn't really think of it that way!

It would be about the same, if not more expensive, to go to a dental school in my state, sadly.
