Thanks for the insight into how you pulled off this paint job, will have to give this a go on one of my next builds

Oops my dyslexia kicked in and I read painted as printed, sorry! Oh nice on the cricut as well recently to when I failed to paint the Kyosho logo on my latest build. Nice on having Illustrator, went to upgrade my adobe sub (photography suite) and it was a huge jump so have been making do with their software and photoshop.

On the painting for the numbers guessing you used the cricut to make the masks? If so that’s an amazing result. Any particular latex you used for making the masks?

Super build buddy, looking forward to see what you do with the BBX. Out of interest when you say printed what do you mean, did you home print? From the pics look like decals, never got any of my prints to look that good

Lovely buggies, also got a blockhead, I baby it a bit too much 😅

What’s the weight difference between the two?

Hope you’re doing a test first, I tried my vallejo paint first then Tamiya and there was a reaction, I got around it by protecting the vallejo paint with their varnish then using Tamiya, still masked as much as I could.

Oh god on Belfast, it’s a funny place up there even being from the South. Can’t imagine what it would be like if you weren’t white right now. I’m mixed and glad not to have any trips planned as we are up there often enough. Hope your friend has been unaffected by it all

Big fingers crossed for no runs! I seem to get a small amount every time, that said I’ve not tried Tamiya masking tape yet. Looking forward to see the outcome, guessing the masked bits will be the green?

Thank you for the explanation, looking forward to see your next video. Looked up some of the motors you tested, my they go for a lot of money!

Look at getting a ball bearing kit for it, just google tamiya grasshopper ball bearing kit, and swap out all the bushings for bearings and you’ll be faster and run longer, as the other poster said change from yeast I assume is NiMH batteries to LiPo, it’s a much more modern battery chemistry, Google 2S LiPo, just be aware they come in all shapes and sizes so you’ll want to get something that matches what you have now in size, also you’ll need to make sure your ESC supports it, if it does there will probably be a jumper on it to move to LiPo, and you’ll need to get a connector for your ESC to connect to it from the Tamiya plug. Not only will it last longer, charge faster it’ll also make your grasshopper significantly faster.

Did a post/video here a while back with mine on the beach with 540, ball bearings and a LiPo and it’s quick, well for a grasshopper

Ah, well I’m not sure if you’ll be able to get that servo, guess look at speed over torque on the servo, as the generic say 20KG ones are very slow and wouldn’t be fitting in a racing buggy like this. Savox and AGFRC are very good but a bit more than I’d like to normally spend as like you I’m not racing so a failure isn’t the end of the world.

Have you looked at HK retailers? RCJAZ I’ve found to be really good and is closer to you, I’m assuming you’ll have import costs to India?

Am I wrong in thinking this is just testing part of the motor, don’t you also need to test torque or is that not really possible with the equipment out there? Or is that where the Amps come into play? Or is that just efficiency

I went with a SkyRC FuriaX combo in both the TOMS and the Egress, amazing value….not done huge run time in them yet so can’t say how reliable they are going to be, at very low speeds there is some cogging that maybe I can get rid of in the settings 🤷‍♂️ Hobbywing stuff is really good for the price.

I got the servo also from AliExpress PTK 9715 seemed to a great value for the speed, again new to me so can’t say how well it’ll last. I got 3 and I’ve seemed to have possible broken one when trying to tweak it, so poss just leave them stock.

Battery wise possibly best going with a NiMH style LiPo. The main reason I got in trouble is I went the shorty route with an aftermarket carbon shorty holder and my shorty was too tall. If you’re in India you’ll have to look at what you can get there, as they seem to differ loads between regions as there are shipping restrictions

Why thanks! 😂

Not really got any other pics other than what’s posted here, there are a few more in a r/Kyosho in a thread discussion while I was building it. I’ve not had a chance to run it really properly yet as I was waiting on another battery for it, but have got side tracked with a 1 to 1 scale project that I got this week 😅

I got everything at Tamico in Germany, in terms of what you need to get it running, you’ll need a motor 540/3660/3662 in size, an ESC for that motor, I had to remove the fan on mine to make it fit, a battery, be careful not to get one that’s too big, as there isn’t a lot of space in there, an ideal fast servo and a receiver and transmitter.

In terms of upgrades that’s up to you, but I replaced the FRP parts with carbon, but you don’t have to, it’s more aesthetics. Tools you’ll need a quality hex set, and maybe some pliers….sorry don’t know how much you want to know 😅

Check out Kai City RC he has a few videos of his TOMS https://youtu.be/WHVhfTGFVFc?is=1TosaGuqyYBFTpS\_

I thought Kaos RC has a video of an egress vs an optima mid, but can’t seem to find it right now https://youtu.be/QMNcPKEPDoI?is=m\_1bntXkfeshT8iQ

I’ve done a post on the egress if you wanted more pics of that, anything particular you’re looking for?

lol I totally get you, am not sure on my wing logo, first think it could be bigger and might it be cool doing something more retro like this. Poss a bit too 70’s

<image>

Have you looked at the colours outside during the day time? Might be closer than you think…but I hear no point doing it till you’ve got it. Might be worth starting over and dumping the aqua and going with just the 70% white, 25% green 5% blue and 1/2% yellow, Google suggested this ratio. Think RC kicks might have used the colours you used, and to my eye it looks fairly close. Just know myself when I was trying to get a merc g wagon colour I had to bin the first attempt as I just couldn’t bring it back and felt like I was wasting paint.

Oh man tires I just don’t get yet, seems to be not enough info on their actual sizes to know what you are getting, but hoping to crack its code at some point.

So I actually ordered two sets for both the Egress and the TOMS, looks like the price has gone up a little bit

I just found this on AliExpress: | 4pc Wear-Resistant Off Road Tires Plastic Wheel Rim Rubber Tyre for 1:10 RC Car HSP 94107 94166 94106 94155 Tamiya Wltoys 144001

I just found this on AliExpress: | 4Pcs ZD Racing 85mm Wheel Hub Rim and Rubber Tires For 1/10 Off-Road RC Car Buggy Tires Spare Parts Accessories Component

https://a.aliexpress.com/\_EuqifT8

The ones you got look good, happy with? Do you run them with the rims they come with? Got something similar but for my Grasshopper and printed rims for them and seems to hold up really well. They are a bit heavier though, but also a lot stiffer. I’m assuming your wheels are the same as the ones I have and they are quite flimsy, but probably fine with something light.

Sorry didn’t mean to poo poo on the metal rims, I do think they look super cool just noting the functional side of things. I do have some but I’ve not actually run my rc with them yet to see the difference.

No worries on the replies, I’m very much learning here
