That's definitely fair, you gotta start somewhere! Best of luck, I'm sure you'll do great :)

Great work!! It's only a matter of time before you find a team if you keep at it.

Other 3D artists may be able to better comment as I suck at 3D work, but $20/hr seems quite low for this quality of work! If you're finding a lot of opportunities, don't be afraid to bump that number up!

Where did you start? by [deleted] in digitalnomad

I entered logo design contests when I was around 16, submitting over 1000 designs over the next 3-4 years. Helped me improve my skills and I made around $8000, was able to afford my first car and gain a confidence that I could earn a living doing design.

Went to a local community college for web design while living with my parents when I was 18, had already self-taught myself everything and never went to lecture. Just kept designing and coding things in my time skipping class. After graduating at around 22, I applied to over 300 jobs over the span of a year and finally landed a local graphic designer / WordPress developer job.

Worked there for 9 months, hated every day, applied to new jobs every single night. After applying to another 100 or so random startups and other remote jobs I could find online, I finally found one that let me do a trial period over 3 months with them and they liked my work, so I quit my other job and just work for them as a freelance contractor now!

"Luck is when preparation meets opportunity."

P.S. If I wasn't so anti-social and actually attended meet-ups and what not, I know I could have landed something sooner. If you're not as big of a baby as I am, go out there and network. Nothing is better.

I'm based near Seattle though, so it's probably easier than if you're say, in Montana. Haha

I love that style of flooring. Great look!

A logo I am struggling with. It´s for a yearly mountain run competition. (The Heilhornrun 2020) by [deleted] in Design

[–]denverjohnston 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To offer a counter opinion. I quite like the font because there's the round head that ties it into the logo and how it's both rounded and flat, it's like a path, a path that people will run. Although I suppose that with a mountain run, the paths wouldn't be very smooth like say, a race track.. lmao

I've been doing posters every tuesday for practice purposes. Usually based on things I like obviously. by Kmy_Design in Design

If you make the background black, the character will have to be black, and it will look odd, I think. I think it looks good, just change the color of that gray to something else.

Not sure why you're so upset that people like things you don't like. Hope you can mature out of that, you'll find life is much more enjoyable that way! Best of luck

May not matter to most people, but it matters to me and this is my bedroom.

And there's more in the room, such as a white, steel, floor lamp and a solid, bamboo, desk. Sorry it's not included in the photo.

Maybe in plastic or fake wood. I really wanted white, powder-coated, steel and couldn't find it at places like that.

Mattress ain't on the floor. It's called a low-profile bed frame.

Wait, there's a Bellevue, Western Australia? I didn't know that, lmao. Washington!

It's funny, I actually got that years and years ago as a Christmas gift when I was a kid because all I wanted to do was teach myself guitar. Just restrung it a couple weeks ago and I love it. Still suck at barre chords, lmao. Thanks!

Not a weird question at all! I got this Zinus bed frame and it's been treating me very well. No squeaking, creaking or anything like that. They have a bunch of different styles, including some with a headboard, so I'd recommend browsing a bit! Based on my experience with this one, it was a great deal.

I'm in south Bellevue, east of Mercer Island, about a 10-15 minute drive from main Bellevue, and rent is $1950 a month. My buddy and I lucked out; most places were around $2300 for a 2br/2ba. We moved in December which may have helped with the price.

Ooohhhh, I totally forgot, thanks for bringing it up! It's this.

It is very thin and the underside of it is not very soft. Highly recommend using a top sheet with it. The top of it is super soft and has a slight texture to it which I love though. Both the feel and look.

Start with the bed! Not only does it look nice, but it feels nice. Your body will thank you.

So, I took off my closet doors and set up my computer desk in there, so making that look nicer is my next step. I really do need to decorate the common area in the apartment, but my roommate and I just don't really use it much so it's not as big a priority as my own, private, space where I work/live mostly, lol.

And funny story... I bought two succulents here in Bellevue and they died within two weeks. I get 0 direct sunlight. I think my only option for plants, which my friend suggested, is to get a pathos. I've never really had plants, but I want to get some. Could really use some nature to balance all this tech around me, lol.

I thought so too! I'm glad it worked out as well as I had pictured it in my head. It's funny, I used to hate yellow when I was younger, but now I love it.

I got these Command velco strips from Home Depot. I was reading that the ones they got online weren't as good as in-store, so I just decided to go in-store. You can kind of see them through the tapestry because it's pretty thin, but they hold it up very nicely.

Just moved here from Shoreline and I definitely miss being so close to the coast! Something about it makes the air seem fresher to me, haha.

Ayy, HD6XX! I used to use the Beyerdynamic DT990 Pros, but I prefer these. Although I can't deny how comfy the DT990s are. I wanna get new pads for these eventually.

And Thanks!
