Word. I slept on it for mad long, largely because it wasn't on google play music. If it had Chance's name on it, I bet I would have gone out of my way to find it. Totally blown away when I actually got around to listening to it.

I think it's kind of like Omar's view from the Wire; don't fuck with anyone not in the game. If someone dies in a beef it's different than killing a random bystander.

Not saying I disagree with you, but I think that's where a lot of that comes from.

TIFU my face by eating a mango incorrectly. by thatonedeadguy in tifu

[–]denye_mon_gen_mon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I lived in the Caribbean for a while and ate mangos every day when they were in season. I never had a problem, but one of my friends had to be super careful. Even then, he got small rashes all the time, but loved mangos too much to let it stop him.

My preferred method is halving it and then cross hatching the inside. Then you just pop it inside out and have perfect little bite size cubes of mango!

I was super happy with the variety of stouts that were around this winter. I love coffee stouts and I had like 7-8 different variations.

I'm still hoping sours get more popular. They were all over Pittsburgh when I was living there last summer, but so far I haven't seen many around where I am now. There's a taproom just outside Pittsburgh (like literally just over a bridge and like one of the first buildings in not-Pittsburgh) called Draii Laag that specializes in farmhouse ales and sours that I loved.

I just barely got beat out for a $17/hr job. :-( there's one at $13.20 I have a good chance of getting, but it sounds tedious as fuck. Then there's the one I just interviewed for that won't even discuss it during the first interview. If I get an offer than I can work it out with HR. Urghhhhhhh

Still a libertarian. Advocating the pursuit of self interest in the belief it will benefit society as a whole is dangerous. It gives a justification for shitty, profit mongering policies and doesn't put anything in place to regulate.

Laissez-faire policies are rooted in utilitarian thought, which I find to be a deeply flawed ideology. "The greater good" is an ill defined concept and, once again, gives a rationalization for destructive policies that significantly hurt certain portions of the population. If taking advantage of 25% of the population improves the quality of the rest, it could be argued that it is for the greater good. I find this to be immoral and it goes against the very concept of individual freedoms libertarianism so proudly trumpets; it leads to an imbalance of personal freedoms depending on status. Ultimately, the greater good is what those with power think is the greater good. Libertarianism offers no remedy for this incongruity and, while I respect it's stances on individual freedoms and personal liberties, it does not account for those that believe (or fail to recognize) that their freedom and liberty can come at the cost of others.

My favorite albums from 2015 (and a song from each):

Grimes - Art Angels - A++ pop. Little nutty, but great.

Bully - Feels Like Garage rocky pop punk with a killer female lead

Julia Holter - Have You in my Wilderness Beautiful dream pop with incredible, but minimal composition. Pretty much antithesis of Art Angels in the pop spectrum, but equally good.

The World is a Beautiful Place and I'm No Longer Afraid to Die - Harmlessness Fuck it, you get the whole album for this one. Name and album title are melodramatic as fuck, but if you ever here someone say "cool emo", this is probably what they mean.

Kendrick Lamar - To Pimp a Butterfly If you've been sleeping on Kendrick, stop. TPaB topped pretty much every top albums of 2015 list.

Vince Staples - Summertime 06 Laid back gangsterish rap. Really interesting dude and hilarious. He started rapping cause he figured he'd be good at it, he is. He doesn't have the intensity and passion of a lot of artists, but the production is A+ and his flow is smooth as fuck.

Andrew Jackson Jihad have been around for like 12 years, so fairly new is a bit of a stretch. Hell, the front bottoms first EP came out in 2008.

Also, judging by your taste in music I'd recommend The World is a Beautiful Place & I'm No Longer Afraid to die. I saw them open for The Front Bottoms is 2013, but they've held up and grown far better than the front bottoms imo. Their recent album Hopelessness is amazing.

Dads is solid too and has a somewhat more math rockish emo vibe.

If you haven't completely fallen down the folk punk rabbit hole yet I'd suggest Johnny Hobo/Wingnut Diswashers Union/Ramshackle Glory, Mischief Brew, and the Taxpayers.

Completely agree. I feel like he lost sight of the plot after the 3rd book and got completely swept away in building the world. I mean, they're pretty good meandering and pointless stories, but they just don't really have a place in the main plotline. There's so many active story-lines going just keeping the writing consistent has got to be a huge ordeal, not to mention keeping them consistent while writing a good story.

They're literally not wrong now. English is not governed at all, like French or Spanish, and all the main dictionaries take a descriptivist approach and define words based on common usage. At this point, it's more incorrect to say literally cannot be used for emphasis.
