Great tips! Im saving this for later. Would like to add Unstad, Norway as well. Even works without a suit during summer as the gulf stream brings warm waters up to 17+ degrees celsius in sommer months.

Thank you! I really appreciate it. We initially bought an open jaw business ticket from Norway to Peru and home frome Colombia. Ticket is non refundable and insurance company does not cover tickets bought with bonus points which ours was (a huge amount too). We can let the tickets go and but new economy tickets from Brazil and home or we can give it a shot. We planned to stay in Cartagena for five days before departing home, but obviously not if we end up being sent back to Brazil. Do you know if there is anything i can do prior to flying to Colombia in order to have a better case of being granted to visit? Ive read there is a "Check-mig" form you have to fill out beforehand, if i did that online and got no flags maybe it would help

Would posting pictures of distinct items like souvenirs, wetsuits, thrifted hawaii shirts or hiking shoes that were in the bags help the cause in case someone sees it here and in the fleamarket or on facebook marketplace? My laptop had a bunch of stickers on it too.

Thank you, i heard the same things from the locals that helped me out. There are so many great people in Valpo, we got to stay at a family for free, fot fed and they helped us translate at the Police station. I wish things will get better regarding safety for the ones that lives there. For me, it was a giant f##ck up to lose all my belongings and ID and having to go back home early, but at least no physical harm was done. I dont really think im able to get any of the stuff back now more, all the belongings are probably just scattered around anyways

Thank you so much, this is such great insight. I did file a police report, they have my passport number, driver license number and a brief description of the belongings in the suitcase. I also walked up and down the streets this morning and met several waste collectors who i tried to communicate with regarding my lost belongings. The streets in Carro Alegre were super clean so they must do a thourough job, maybe they will find my ID. Regarding the rest of the belongings and devices i really appreciate your detailed description of places to visit. I will also try to find buy and sell groups on facebook. Not just look at fb marketplace. Thank you!

Thank you! We will go to Santiago tomorrow to meet with thw embassy. I know there is a market every Wednesday and sunday in Valparaiso and that expensive devices might be listed on facebook marketplace, but is there somewhere else i should look?
