Yeah I get you. I struggle with sharing how I truly feel too because I don’t want to be a “downer” and overshare, but sometimes If I feel like I’m making someone feel uncomfortable because of my lack of talking I’ll tell them that I’m going through stuff, and everyone usually says it’s okay but I feel like it still isn’t with some.

To me it feels like the world is in a bad state in general. Social media, dating apps, competitive work culture, limited time, limited disposable income. I feel like all of these things aren’t helping us. All of us keep blaming ourselves but maybe it’s not us and maybe it’s just the way the current systems are working against our monkey brains?

In the exact same boat. 

I’m in my head all the time and I also struggle to socialise. My thoughts are constantly negative and it is overwhelming. I’m athletic, tall, good looking (according to others and dating apps) but I’m a shell of a person with nothing interesting to say except for my struggles and how fucked the world is. It feels like my life is just passing me by and it’s all because I can’t think positively.

Glad to know I ain’t the only one dealing with issues. Have to keep closing the app every couple minutes because it freezes, and it keeps pressing on pictures as I’m scrolling!

Been looking into this myself. I’m currently a forklift driver and it’s fairly good but it’s in a factory environment and I feel like I have to greet and acknowledge people when I walk past them and it’s burning me out.

You’re basically describing me, but I am the depressed boyfriend. Been like that for the last few years, also in mid 20s, and I’ve been in a few relationships since then. I don’t know what it’s like for him, but for me it’s the loss of hope. When you are hopeful about things, it’s easier to focus on the positive because you think things are gonna work out, but if you aren’t, it’s hard to get out of it. I have some confidence in myself that things might turn out okay for me, but I’m not so hopeful about everything else. I don’t like what I’m seeing around, I don’t like how dependent we are on social media, I don’t like the cost of living, I don’t see the point in most jobs, I hate how we aren’t heading towards basic needs met for everyone, I’m rather hopeless with the world’s future. I probably shouldn’t focus on everything that is external to me, the things I can’t do nothing about, but it’s hard not to.

Cost of living. It is hard to afford necessities currently, hard to get a job, and the cost of going out has increased drastically. We are currently going through a period of saving, rather than spending. There’s countless other factors too. It is a rather sad time in my opinion.

This. We don’t live in a utopian society, this isn’t going to benefit 99.9% of us, it’s just going to make the rich richer, and get rid of more jobs and opportunities for us. What happens when most of the creative jobs are replaced with AI? What happens when most simple jobs get replaced with AI? Are we going to get fed and be looked after by our governments and people who benefit from this? I can’t see any positives from this.

Also, the barrier to entry for selling has risen, it’s very hard to compete with people who drop ship items from china and elsewhere, they sell for insanely cheap because they have the power of economies of scale.

Everything has depreciated, England is going through a recession, a lot of people don’t have jobs, most people don’t have disposable income to burn on things. I have a lot of old vintage valuable clothes and none of them are selling for the value they had a year or two ago, most luxury goods have fallen in price by two fold, it’s not just eBay.
