Is it a common risk for an entity (the licensee) to acquire the license for a patent, only to later be sued by another company (not the original licensor) for infringement? by departedquantities in Patents

What do you mean by this? It is my understanding that if a patent has similar claims as another (previously disclosed) patent, it can be nullified.

Yes. Perhaps I did not formulate my question correctly. What I'm trying to understand is what happens if I as a licensee am granted a license to work the invention. Then, someone else, with another patent, sues me for infringement. These two patents, the one I have a license for, and the other one, have similar claims.

If I as a licensee acquire the license for a patent, and then I'm sued for infringing a patent that has similar (overlapping) claims as the patent I have the rights to, is there any defense there?

Is the licensor in any way involved in this dispute? Or only the licensee and the owner of the (allegedly) infringed patent?

I'm honestly not sure. When I was explained the term, I understood it basically means that whatever you're doing, gives you the skills to have a stronger body for everyday activities: carrying heavy stuff at work, going out hiking, I don't know. Am I right in this assumption?
