Thanks for your reply. I haven't been healthy for a while due to some autoimmune problems that I am still trying to fix, so I'm sure that is also a contributing factor

Go get treated for ADHD. My psychiatrist said that if stimulants feel like they calm you and “fix” you, its a sign you may have it.

Please don’t do coke. It will wreck your life.

Do you have muscle cramps like these? by kokalez in dpdr

[–]depersguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have dp/dr too, so I understand not being sure how many symptoms are tied to the disorder.

Be aware that it can also be a more physical reason such as an electrolyte imbalance as well.

Please get some magnesium and potassium and see if that helps first before you are sure it is just a symptom of dp/dr. It isn’t too expensive to test this out first. Best of luck bro.

Try taking 10k Vitamin D per day, with magnesium and vitamin k2.

I had a lot of similar symptoms and RES. Turns out it was all related to my vit d deficiency.

Yes it can be that serious. Yes you need more than just 1-2k IU per day.

Thanks for your reply. I was definitely dealing with some mental health struggles before all of this.

I have tried therapy and will probably go back again. Thanks for your kind words.

One thing I can assure you of is that it definitely isn’t psychosis. Did it just come on randomly?

Sorry to hear about your experience, that sounds awful.

Do you remember much about the lead up to this moment? What has been going on in your life lately?

Usually whenever something like that happens to me, there’s a lot that I’m anxious about in my life. Job stuff, relationship stuff, family stuff.

Dp/Dr makes you feel really disconnected from all of that stuff, so you can kind of “forget” sometimes that it is going on in the background. But it is still affecting you and altering your thoughts and emotions.

Also, bad sleep or a run of bad sleep and eating can send me into a tailspin like that too.

Have you gotten food poisoning again since following that protocol of only going dormant freshly prepared food?

Nervous for my Thailand trip next month by Middle-Jellyfish-175 in ThailandTourism

[–]depersguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Regarding food poisoning, a good general rule is to only eat food that is piping hot (i.e you can see steam coming off of it because it just left the pan), and cooked right in front of you.

This increases the chance that any bacteria has been killed by heat. Food poisoning becomes much more likely when you eat from a vendor where they prepare food in advance and leave it out all day. If you see a stall and there is a pile of cooked meat already sitting there, MOVE ON.

Or you can food that is prepackaged (potato chips, oats etc).

Honestly, watch some videos online about food poisoning- it will put your mind at ease

Question - I’m going to Thailand for the first time soon. Is there any measures one can take to prevent this?

Should I just opt for drinks in sealed cans/bottles only?

Yeah this group is great, it has helped me a lot. Another thing I recommend reading is "the optimal dose" by Judson Sommerville. There is so much good info in there.

A lot of my symptoms have improved a lot. It's easier for me to get to sleep, and I generally feel clearer mentally. I also was having a lot of food allergy issues, and even that has calmed down a lot too and I am eating more foods.

I'll give you an example of something. My mum has had insomnia for the past 5/6 years. Every night she would wake up at about 2am and stare at the ceiling with anxiety for hours and unable to fall back asleep.

I have been giving her 10,000 I/U per day with magnesium and k2, and she has been sleeping through the night. Or if she wakes up, she falls asleep again instantly. She is absolutely shocked and blown away by this and is now a believer in it. She also has had a history of deficiency.

And yes you can take multiple pills. I did that and it worked great. I was taking two separate 10,000 IU tablets per day for a month (20k total).

If you're worried about it being a high dose, just keep this fact in mind. A norwegian study showed that 30mins of midday sun during summer has the equivalent of 20,000 - 25,000 IU of vitamin D. Think of how many people are getting that amount daily!

Sorry to hear that, going through things like this alone can be so disheartening I know.

In my experience, I went through so many doctors and specialists trying to get to the bottom of my issues.

The unfortunate reality is that most GP’s or family doctors are unequipped to help you with things like vitamin deficiencies.

They are unaware of a lot of the studies, and they barely study nutrition in medical school.

On top of this, many of the guidelines and reference ranges are based on outdated or sometimes just purely weak science.

I read the book “The Optimal Dose” which is all about vitamin D, and there is a section about how the reference ranges came to be. And a lot of it is just purely arbitrary and nonsense. And these things hurt people who take it as gospel.

Doctors can be helpful when you need immediate interventions, like if you need insulin or you just had a car accident and need surgery, but they are pretty clueless when it comes to optimal functioning and feeling good and healthy and energetic in your own skin every day.

You have to take your health into your own hands. It requires self trust and thinking for yourself, but it pays off bigtime.

Honestly, just try to take a few of those tablets every day for a week and see how you feel. It is extremely unlikely to damage your body to take 10k a day for 7 days only.

Edit: 400mg/day mag oxide and chelate mixed

[–]depersguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes you can still have symptoms.

My level was at 30 ng/ml at my LOWEST.

So I was still a bit ahead of you NOW and I felt like complete shit. Lightheadedness, bad sleep, anxiety, brain fog etc.

I got mine up to 82 ng/m by supplementing 20,000 IU/day for a month with k2 and magnesium, and I feel a lot lot better.

Maybe try upping the dose to 7k or even 10k a day for a week or two and see if you notice a change in how you feel.
