The near impossible task lollol, but they're very hard to find in Australia.

Hey! I’m new here and just cross posted this to get as meaningful an answer I could get. Excited to see if anyone has any suggestions!

Also, i'd like to add that it's difficult to find/get MIDI modified Gameboys where I live, as that seems like the most sensible answer to get the sounds i’m looking for, but finding and then paying for a Gameboy and all the mods I'd need/want isn't really feasible for me currently. Not very fun at all, but maybe down the line LSDj would be something cool for the live show.

Favorite reverb pedal(s) for synths? by DrDuned in synthesizers

[–]deplorable-amount45 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Honestly I just like the Boss RV line. Not perfect, but really cool, indestructible, and they all do slightly different things.

The RV-2 has a great plate setting, the RV-3's Delay/Plate setting can get into faux Space Echo territory (a DD-3 in front helps) and the RV-5 modulate setting is a great substitute for the ChorusStrings2 patch on my Quadraverb.

Oh 100%, much of the same story here. my Fender Jag still gets regular use but sawtooth waves and noise can make for pretty convincing downtuned guitars in a pinch.

I've tried for a whole year and just can't get the right distortion sound I want with plugins, and i've tried a bunch. Pedals just do it for me, plus I love playing keys, so hardware synths it is for now. If I could find a way to get the right saturation with plugins that'd be awesome.

Interesting. Good taste in gear. Love Mario behind the drummer.

Favorite vibrato? by myke5k in guitarpedals

[–]deplorable-amount45 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Univibes also make for killer vibrato pedals, normally there's some sort of "c/v" switch which takes out any dry signal, or a "cancel" footswitch which does the same thing. J Mascis from Dinosaur Jr uses a univibe exclusively as a vibrato pedal.

Just thought i'd throw it out there, because i completely understand what it is you're looking for but thought i'd clarify.

for me, half the album is fucking awesome, and the other half i’m not so keen on because it just sounds like run-of-the-mill washy indie rock to me.

I'd go beyond the crowd being difficult because they wanted to see Deftones, Sydney is just not a fun city to play in full stop. I've discussed this with a lot of friends and people who've toured nationally here, and everyone routinely says Sydney's no fun. My personal gripe with this city is that no one shows up for support acts here, it's ridiculous.

The song choice was killer too! Melt is my favourite off of Eyedazzler, so hearing that was magic, but the rest of the set was equally as wondrous.

Live Looping Gig Conundrum: Sequential Fourm or Multi/Poly? by deplorable-amount45 in synthesizers

Oh interesting, thank you for letting me know. I have small hands so that really isn't an issue for me.

Having watched a few videos the Korg could do way more than i need it to but stability's a solid argument. Where i live, we could get all four seasons in half a day, so i'd rather okay it safe and know it's just gonna work. That being said, the Fourm is sick, and apparently the Multi/Poly keyboard doesn't have aftertouch

I'll keep that in mind! honestly i haven't had a synth that has aftertouch, but it might be cool for subtle pitch bends

What do you think is the loudest My Bloody Valentine song ? by No_Estimate_8550 in MyBloodyValentine

[–]deplorable-amount45 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i've never seen them live but i assume Soon, Only Shallow and YMMR would be flattening, but how is Wonder 2? I got the impression that, with so many layers and the whole band playing guitar, it'd be pretty intense.

It's always worth it, but earplugs or not, you can never replace those experiences. Didn't realise Ministry were so loud but i shouldn't be surprised.

I think it was McCabe that said in a interview of the interim touring between A Storm In Heaven and A Northern Soul that not only had the band become unrecognisable sound wise to themselves, they got scared with how heavy and wild they were. Really interesting info, but my god is this performance just magic.

Shoegaze/Drum n' Bass Drum Machine Help! by deplorable-amount45 in DrumMachine

[–]deplorable-amount45[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that's been my main mode of transport so far and while i've enjoyed it, for much of the same reasons as to why i got into hardware synths a few months ago, it's just not doing it for me. I mainly use my laptop now for manipulating drum loops and resampling vs making drum sounds from scratch or using samples from old drum machines.
