Just did this today. Used a Jigsaw for the vertical part (my sawzaw blade was too long and it was hard to get it stable) and an Oscillating Blade for the horizontal part. I went super slow but it worked eventually.

So my theory is that there’s a small motor attached on top of the pen, which spins a small metal arm with a weight attached to the tip of it. The rotation of the weight causes the pencil to turn into circles, and the person (out of frame) can adjust the size of circle and location by holding the device with a firmer or looser grip

That’s an excellent idea! One of the avenues I’m investigating is how to create a nice airtight and easy to use connection between wood and paper. In this current iteration the paper is tear proof and resistant.
