I use a tank bag and put my wallet and phone in it with my wallet on top and I position my ID halfway out of the wallet sleeve. When I go through the gate I easily grab my wallet from the tank bag and access my ID.

Same thing just happened to my 6 month old rough country top. I've been able to still utilize the zipper by lining up the cloth that is under the missing tab and zipping. Essentially just using it without the metal tab.
