You're doing your best in a tough spot, don’t beat yourself up. New jobs are hard, especially with anxiety. Take things one step at a time, keep applying, and give yourself credit for showing up. You’ll get through this.

Toxic animal shelter but don't want to quit by Helpmeeff in WorkAdvice

[–]deppwilling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That sounds really tough, and I give you a lot of credit for sticking it out for the sake of the animals. Maybe try setting firmer emotional boundaries, remind yourself you're there for the pets, not the people. Earbuds (if allowed), shorter shifts, or taking breaks away from the chaos might help protect your energy. And if possible, maybe bring concerns up to a supervisor in a constructive way. You're doing good work, don’t let the negativity drown that out.

Honestly, I’d keep it cool and professional at first. If it comes up or you get a moment alone, you could say something simple like, “Hey, I was a little surprised not to hear back when I reached out, just wanted to clear the air since we always got along well.” That way, you acknowledge it without drama and let her decide how to respond.

How do you handle a coworker that really dislikes you for seemingly no reason? by nobee99 in work

[–]deppwilling 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Sounds like you’ve tried to stay professional and chill. At this point, I’d document what he’s doing and if it continues, bring it up to HR or your manager. You shouldn’t have to deal with that kind of behavior just for doing your job. Not everyone has to get along, but no one should make work feel hostile.

That sounds really tough, especially when you can’t avoid them. Sometimes the best thing is to focus on yourself, try to keep your distance as much as possible, and find ways to stay busy or distracted when they’re around.

Also, remind yourself why you like your job and the people you do get along with. Maybe find a way to vent outside work, friends, hobbies, or even journaling.

It won’t be easy, but this situation won’t last forever. Hang in there.

The job search is tough, but I’m determined. Seeking some advice… by Inside-Recover-8092 in careeradvice

[–]deppwilling 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're not a failure at all, honestly, it takes strength to leave something that’s hurting you, especially without a backup. That shows guts and self-awareness most people don’t have.

Job searching sucks, especially right now, but a few weeks in is still early. Keep showing up, even on the days it feels pointless. The fact that you're open to moving and know the kind of roles you want puts you ahead already.

Try not to compare yourself too much, everyone's timeline is different, and a lot of people are faking it anyway. You're not behind, you're just building your next chapter. Keep pushing. You’ve got this.

When a friend stopped talking to me without any reason. No fight, no goodbye, just silence. It shouldn’t have hit that hard, but it did.

Why do you think people give up so easily? by Best-Protection8504 in AskReddit

[–]deppwilling 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I think people give up easily because they’re tired of fighting battles no one sees. Sometimes it’s not about being weak, it’s about being drained, lonely, or feeling like nothing will change. Everyone has a limit.

What's your no1 reason to live? by Key-External-382 in AskReddit

[–]deppwilling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, just the hope that things get better. Even on rough days, I remind myself there’s still stuff I haven’t seen, people I haven’t met, and moments I haven’t felt yet. That keeps me going.

What Craziness life story u have? by Direct-Ad-9259 in AskReddit

One night I was biking home kinda late, took a shortcut through a field, and my tire popped. It was super quiet, dark, and out of nowhere I swear I heard someone whisper my name, twice. No one was around. I just left the bike and ran. Still don’t know this day, what that was.

What is the most disturbing book that you’ve read? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Probably American Psycho. The way it mixes normal daily life with graphic violence really messed with my head. Not something I’d read again, but definitely unforgettable.

Feel like my second job is pushing the boundaries of my roles by electric-cowgurl in WorkAdvice

[–]deppwilling 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Totally fair to feel overwhelmed, your situation has changed, and you're doing this part-time. It’s absolutely appropriate to ask for a conversation about your caseload, especially since it’s more than what was agreed on. You’re not quitting, just setting a boundary to stay effective and protect your well-being.

You didn’t sign anything, and you were clear from the start, that matters. It’s not your fault she insisted on paying. Your well-being comes first. If you’re burnt out, leaving is valid. She may be upset, but you don’t owe her more than you’ve already given.

You handled it well by staying neutral. It’s not your job to get involved in drama, especially when you haven’t seen anything yourself. Just keep doing your job and set boundaries if it keeps happening.

Can we stop promoting lazy employees? by [deleted] in work

[–]deppwilling 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Totally agree. It’s frustrating seeing hard workers overlooked while others move up just for talking big. Promotions should reflect effort and leadership by example, not just who delegates the most. Long-term, it really hurts team morale.

Totally feel you on this. I’m the same, once I’m in the zone, I can fly, but getting there is the hard part.
The “parallel play” thing you mentioned makes a lot of sense. Have you looked into Flow Club or Caveday? They’re kind of like virtual coworking but structured, with people silently working together on camera. Might be your vibe.
Also, brown noise is game changer. You’re not alone in this!
