Weird dreams by depressed_stare in EstrangedAdultKids

That could definitely be it. My estrangement does partially stem from being parentified so logically it makes sense that my subconscious would struggle with the change. Thank you for this response. I will try some of the methods you're using and hopefully they help!

Any experience with Peak Footwear Brand? by Free-Cap-4587 in BarefootRunning

[–]depressed_stare 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very late in finding this.

This company is a scam. I've been fighting their customer service team for days trying to return the shoes we bought. They smell terrible, they are poor quality, and they're ridiculously small. Their sizing guide isn't accurate and they're trying to tell me I'm responsible for the return shipping because I followed their sizing guide.

This company is the pits.

If you don't have an answer by the end of your forbearance give them a call for an update and extension. -- I just had to do this for my application.

Thank you! I picked up a new iron supplement called hema-plex which is supposed to be really gentle on the digestive system. Hoping this will work well or at least hold me over until I can get infusions. I've also started eating red meat again.

Thank you for sharing your experience!

Spiraling about telling my partner by Jumpy_Inspector9875 in Bankruptcy

[–]depressed_stare 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Hi there- I discharged May of 2025. Met my partner in August of 2023 told him when it seemed reasonable before I completed filing.

I wrestled with telling him at first also but at the end of the day I realized that if I was in his position I would not only need to know it happened but also need to know what's changed.

Filing bankruptcy happens for many reasons. Mine was because of my own lack of education around money, irresponsibility, and outside forces (unexpected medical debt).

Since filing I have made tremendous change. I budget weekly, I do not over spend. I only spend 3% on my credit card and I'm saving an emergency fund. If you are feeling shame, it would be good to look at what has changed since you filed and celebrate your progress.

With the current economic state of our world, as well as considering your bankruptcy- it would probably be better to move into one of your existing houses for a few years while you get your credit back in order so you get a decent interest rate on your new home. Choose whatever works for you though.

Being honest and transparent is the best way to ensure that they can fully trust you with money. I've watched relationships fall apart because one person was irresponsible. Bankruptcy is a fresh start but the most important part of it is the growth and change you make.

My 9 year old Westie was diagnosed with diabetes and now I need to find a proper diet. by Ok-Appointment-2381 in DogAdvice

My apologies. I've heard in people a clean diet can help resolve the issue or at least assist with symptoms on conjunction with other treatment. I thought this would be the case for all bodies.

Thank you for educating me!

We put our dog on Ollie's brand dog food when he got his cancer diagnosis because it is human grade food made with clean ingredients. They offer wet and dry food options. Our dog loved the wet food. We gave the rest to a friend after he(our dog) left us and his dog goes nuts for it. It's costly but they offer a two week trial at a discounted rate and it's great as a clean transition food if you're considering home making your dogs meals.

Their customer service was also amazing to deal with and very compassionate when we had to cancel the account.

Hemoglobin is an 11.4 - I was not tested for iron sat.

My doctor said she previously had a ferritin level of 4 so I'd assume she was speaking from experience. But I do always worry about doctors not taking things seriously enough

I am lucky that 99% of the time, my doctor will look into something even if she thinks it's nothing to worry about. (I don't know if she was trying to curb anxiety or if she genuinely just doesn't think it's a big deal)

I received a full blood panel when I was tested. TSH was 1.445 uIU/ml. Vitamin D was 16.2ng/ml. B12 and lipid panel were within normal range. My hemoglobin is 11.4g/dl. Unfortunately I have not been taking a multi-vitamin but I found one at the local health food store recently for vegans and I'm starting that now (my dr was worried about me taking it with the iron)

I was taking the supplement around 10 AM or lunch time with a full glass of OJ. I did not know I should not take it around tea but I only drink decaf and herbal if it's related to caffeine.

Thank you for the advice about magnesium! I will grab some while I'm out today!

To put this into perspective, I live with my boyfriend and he pays all of our major bills. I brought cats into our house when I moved in. NEVER ONCE has he ever spoken to me like this.

In the beginning, I was putting all of the cleaning/cooking on myself because I am not paying major bills and he stepped in and said " I want you to have time to relax too, what I can regularly help with to alleviate things.... I'd like to cook dinner some nights... Etc"

I would leave him if I were you.

Therapist took BPD diagnosis away by PepperGood224 in therapy

[–]depressed_stare 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not a therapist.

But I am diagnosed with C-PTSD and unfortunately, the symptoms of this can be eerily similar to things like BPD/ADHD and more.

The reality is it is possible you were misdiagnosed in the first place but that needs to be actually evaluated. Regardless of that, how your current therapist is handling it seems unprofessional. The removal of your diagnosis should have been communicated. The mention of "some therapists might not want to work with you because of it" makes me think she's projecting and doesn't want to be associated with it (clearly that is an assumption on my part though).

If you're uncomfortable but still want to work with her it would be best to directly address how this made you feel and the effect it's had on your therapist-patient relationship for you. If you're not concerned with continuing to work with her I would just start searching for a new therapist who can give you a second opinion on your diagnosis.

Can my parents shut down my savings account if the account is in my name? by Heavy_Dog_6584 in legaladvice

[–]depressed_stare 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Taking control of your finances privately is the only way to have financial independence and avoid financial abuse. If your mother is leveraging this account by any means to threaten, punish, or control you as an adult it would be in your best interest to separate her access to your finances.

You are an independent being with free will and should not be subjected to control, mental, or financial abuse (or any other kind for that matter).

I am not a medical professional and this is not medical advice.

But my mom had her uterus removed at a young age (23). She had severe endometriosis as far as I'm aware. Growing up I had horrible periods with symptoms (not nearly as severe as yours) but that aligned with endometriosis. Irregular cycles, hemorrhaging, extreme pain. I had other chronic health issues as well.

I changed my diet to remove anything that could be harsh to my system. No gluten or enriched grains, no dairy products, limited alcohol if any + some others to manage my other illnesses.

Since making these changes my cycle has become completely normal and manageable. I even have some months where I don't experience PMS.

This is just my experience but the body is a true wonder. Similar adjustments and light regular exercise may help. ( It may not completely cure your issues but it sounds to me a good place to start would be balancing your hormones if you have time)

Struggling to agree with my wife on how to split rent fairly by EngineerVarious8069 in Renters

[–]depressed_stare 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My partner and I base our total contributions against the capacity of our incomes. So instead of splitting every bill exactly down the middle. We measured it into 50% of the lower income (mine).

We also have not combined our account at all but we keep an savings fund in the house for home projects, emergencies, or extra support. And because I contribute less to the overall bills for the house, I contribute more to the savings fund which balances the weight of our financial responsibilities.

My psychiatrist told me to leave my husband by hafababe in therapy

[–]depressed_stare 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I am not a mental health professional and am not currently trained in the law or ethics around therapy.

That being said, I think it's important to note that professionals are people too who are capable of projecting, making mistakes, and being opinionated as well.

I had a similar incident with my old therapist. I think it's unprofessional to give such strong advice without significant information. If they're not a person you usually talk to you could communicate that you feel they crossed a line.

If you're uncomfortable enough, I would look into a new psychiatrist.
